Chapter 47 – Dungeons
“Ah, weather window.”
When I opened my eyes, the sun was rising from the other side. The color of the turbid sky was gradually dyed with the light of the morning sun. I woke up with my throat locked and woke up my companions.
“Is it morning already? You’re very tired.”
“Let’s go in quickly. It’s really fucking cold to sleep outside.”
Copson woke up first, followed by Meria, rubbing her eyes. Elise was sitting and reading a book, as if she had already woken up. She wondered what kind of book it was, but it was the Bible she always carried with her.
“Are you awake? Then let’s go in now.”
Elise stood up, closing the book and putting it around her waist. Four grotesque skeletons were already dangling from her waist. They were all skulls of skeleton mages with pagan marks engraved on them. What kind of voodoo nun is this?
I headed straight for the gate. The door was already open. A world-weary old man guard and a twin-tailed young female guard stood on either side. Perhaps the old man was the senior, but when he winked at me, a female guard hurriedly approached me.
“What’s your business?”
“Ah, these are adventurers who went on quests and returned. They arrived at night and slept in front of the gate.”
“Are you adventurers? Do you have any cards?”
Most of the guards skipped it because it was a formal procedure, but she requested an adventurer card. We took out our adventurer cards. Mine was a copper plaque, issued by the Krasheim Adventurer’s Guild.
I received it when I was promoted to E class, so it was a few years old. The swarm was burning. It’s been a long time since I took it out.
“All three have been confirmed. What about the nun over there?”
Elise showed off her own Rosario without saying anything to her. The guard looked intently at her necklace, her crucifix radiating its brilliance, and opened her mouth.
“Eh… So what religion?”
Hey, you stuffy bastard, just ask me to let you in, dude.
The uncle guard who was watching us from the side also interrupted as if he was frustrated.
“No, you bastard, don’t you know that? It’s the Light Star Cross. Let me in quickly.”
“Ah, yes. I’m sorry. Please go in now.”
“Take care.”
I entered the city while bowing.
“Then let’s go sell the booty.”
“It should be.”
Since he entered the city, he had to sell all the items he had acquired and exchange them for money. And split the money and you’re done. Our thrilling journey to the dungeon would be a perfect end to that.
“Sister Elise, you can hear it from the nearby blacksmith shop. Everyone follow me.”
So we wandered the streets and sold goods. The first place I went to was the blacksmith’s shop. I was thinking of selling the two knives I took from the corpse of an adventurer who fell behind.
“Two knives? Hmm, the teeth are a bit chipped. I’ll hit them at 40 coppers apiece and give them 80 coppers.”
I looked back at my companions. If you divide 80 coopers into quarters, you get 20 coopers. It doesn’t matter. Copson and Meria said it was fine, and Elise said it didn’t matter. I handed over the knife.
“Goodbye.”
The smithy owner said hello. He immediately came out and divided 20 coppers among the party.
“Come on, take 20 coppers each.”
“Where are you going next?”
Meria, who received four 5-cooper fairy tales, said.
“Well, I’d like to deal with the imp horns and mimic teeth first. Something is ominous because I have these.”
Even if the mimic teeth were like that, the horns of the imps were really a bit physiological. Even if they were originally the same monsters, those vaguely resembling people made me feel more disgusted. That’s why imps are disgusting. I wanted to dispose of it quickly.
“Then it would be better to go to the alchemist’s guild. If they sell magic materials, they pay more than the Mage Tower.”
“The Alchemist’s Guild? I’ve never been to this side. Do you know where it is?”
“Follow me. I will guide you.”
This time I followed Copson. Following Copson’s stride, he turned around the alley and came out to the main road, where he saw an alchemist’s guild building with a huge potion bottle decorated on the roof. After accepting the teeth and horns from me, Copson opened the door.
“The Mimic’s tooth and the Imp’s horn that I collected yesterday. How much can you give me?”
Copson, who went to the window, lowered his voice and said. Because she was a female employee. Does this bastard get speechless if he doesn’t lower his voice when talking to a woman?
“Oh, it’s a Mimic tooth. It’s a fairly rare material. Did you say you gathered it yesterday?”
“That’s right. I’ve been to the dungeon. It’s very fresh. I pulled out the teeth of a living creature.”
A female employee wearing a robe used her magnifying glass to praise her materials. It didn’t take long.
“I can’t do this because it’s split, this is too small, and this one has cracks again. I’ll give you 32 coppers for 8 of the intact ones. I’ll buy the two imp’s horns for 3 coppers each and buy them for 6 coppers.”
A mimic has 8 teeth and 32 copper? I groaned a little. If this was a solo hunt, it would literally be a great hunting ground. Isn’t that 4 coopers each? Even if you strictly look at the quality of teeth, the price per tooth was worth it no matter what you did.
I carved into my mind the knowledge that Mimic’s teeth = expensive. These 10 mimics were fucking nice babies.
“Are you okay? A total of 38 Coopers.”
If it’s 9 copper per person, it doesn’t matter anyway. At first, I didn’t expect much because it was a material item. After all, the main thing was the tin cup and the staff.
Meria and Elise also agreed, and when Copson received the money, I intervened.
“Oh, and there are some ancient accessories found in the dungeon. Do you buy these as well?”
“You mean ancient trinkets? Show me sometime.”
The staff showed interest at the word ancient ornaments.
I took out her necklace, ring, and earrings that I had kept for her and showed her. Every time I brought something out, I could see in real time that her interest was waning.
“They’re just old metals rather than ancient trinkets… Well, I don’t think I can buy them because they don’t seem to have any magical powers.”
“Is that so? Then what about this staff member? They are very precious.”
I put the cane on the desk to sell it if I can. My heart started pounding. How much is an evil magic wand worth?
“Black crystal? It’s a bit unusual, but there’s a crack. Can I have an appraisal for a while?”
“Yes.”
“Let’s see…”
This time, an employee who took out some appraisal tools examined the cane. Looking at it, he seemed more interested than when he saw the ancient trinkets just before.
It was a staff used by the Skeleton Mages. Of course it will be expensive.
“Since the condition of the crystal is not so good, I will buy it for 1 silver.”
“One silver?”
I almost fell asleep in surprise.
No, I thought I could do a fucking 3 silver, what kind of bullshit is this?
Isn’t this bastard a scammer?
No, it’s a hundred-per-gourada. Come to think of it, aren’t all alchemists gossipers and top-notch swindlers? They were true scumbags who would beat adventurers who didn’t know well in this way and eat them in the back.
Feeling offended, I immediately jumped out of my seat and stood up.
1 silver is a lot of money, but at least it wasn’t the price of this staff.
“It’s cheaper than I thought. Let’s look elsewhere.”
“Then how about 1 silver 50 copper?”
So suddenly the price went up 50%. This bastard knows who the fool now. As soon as they are rejected, if you raise the price like that, who will sell it? Looking at his face his, he seems a bit urgent, but it seems that he has more room to spare.
“Something suddenly raises half. I don’t sell it, I don’t sell it.”
“Then two silver.”
“Wow, that doubles in an instant. Guys, let’s go!”
“Hey, hold on…!”
I immediately left the Alchemist Guild. Fuckin’ pups. I’m the one who sold Madecassol in Krasheim and bought it for 2 silver. This wand was absolutely no better than that ointment.
However, unlike Elise and I, who came out right away, Meria and Copson came out after a while.
“No fuck?”
The guys who came out no longer had wands.
“Hey, did you guys sell them?”
“Of course I sold it. I bought it for 2 silver and 30 copper. Isn’t that a good price? Rather, I want to ask why you haven’t sold it.”
“Um… Wouldn’t it be better for you to just go and sell it now?”
This, these crazy handicapped people.
“No, you bastards. If you suddenly saw the price more than doubled, wouldn’t there be something? Those bastards would have hit you unconditionally.”
“Even if that’s the case, what are you going to do if you drop it next time? They say you have to sell it at the right time at the right price so you don’t lose money.”
Copson let out a bullshit that sounded right. I was almost convinced at the moment, but no matter how I look at it, it wasn’t. Even in my opinion, even if I called for at least 3 silver, the other side would have tried to buy it with open arms.
I can’t. I should take this opportunity to increase my appraisal. I will inquire about the price of this staff and sell it at a fair price.
“Maria, do you think so too?”
“Um… Wouldn’t 2 silver and 30 copper be appropriate?”
“Damn it… At least Sister Elise seems to be the wisest.”
“Oh, I’m thinking of submitting this to the church.”
Right.
“Anyway, I think I’ll just have to sell those trinkets and tin cups. I think I’ll have to go to a carpenter’s, jewelry’s, or antique’s?”
“I don’t know because it has nothing to do with me. Where else is it?”
“I’ll guide you this time. Come on, let’s go.”
As expected, I’m a girl, so I think I know that kind of stuff well. I have neither the money nor the interest in luxuries, so I have no idea of that.
In my life in another world, there was nothing that could be called an accessory. Except for the necklace he took from killing the bandit the other day. Come to think of it, I haven’t sold this yet. I’ll keep it as an emergency fund and sell it later.
Following Meria, we entered a fairly neat street. The reason why this place is neat is because adventurers don’t come in and out very often. Since most adventurers cheaply eat and throw away anywhere, places with a large floating population of adventurers naturally get dirty.
“Let’s go to the antique store first.”
We went inside the narrow antique shop. An old man in a rather noble outfit bowed his head.
“They’re adventurers. Did you find any old items from somewhere like a dungeon?”
“Hey, the owner knows everything when he sees it.”
Damn, in fact, there was no hope if even the antique store didn’t accept our ancient trash. It was a board where I had to sit down and cry on the spot.
“Then show me the thing.”
“Wait a minute, there’s a little too much…”
I took things out with anticipation and anxiety.
