Chapter 104 – Accumulation.
“Damn it.”
Donnar muttered a low curse. Paciphenia, a homeland she was terribly proud of. He has done several jobs there. Among them, there was a case of subduing the protesting citizens. However, the leadership judged their protest as a demonstration of force, and an order to suppress it was immediately issued. Donard and others had no right to veto. Because the superior’s order was absolute. Like a superior who made excuses saying he couldn’t help it, he had to give orders.
It was the moment when he opened his mouth, explaining that he could not help it. Someone grabbed his shoulder.
“Git.”
It was Git who caught him. It wasn’t unexpected. Donard and Gitt had known each other the longest, though it would be more accurate to say that they were colleagues rather than friends. The biggest motivation was that they were from the same unit.
“How long has it been since we haven’t grabbed a shovel?”
“What are you saying all of a sudden…”
He was expecting Git to say that he would go down to the burrow himself. However, at the moment he was dumbfounded by a different, floating voice. Donard, belatedly, seemed to know why he said that.
“Ha, no way. You man.”
“How is it? Is it a little difficult?”
“That’s what you mean.”
He couldn’t stop the dejected laughter from flowing out. It was something he could never have imagined would be a solution to that disgusting task. But now he couldn’t stop laughing anyway. Donnar exclaimed when others saw him as strange.
“What are you guys doing! Aren’t you going to carry around a shovel?”
So, no matter how hard and arduous that method is, if it is the safest way to rescue survivors, shouldn’t you be willing to do it? His colleagues, who finally understood the meaning of his words, stared blankly at him.
“…That’s coming from here?”
“Gitt!! What did you say to Donar?!”
Odur looked at the distant mountains, and Shalvi groaned and grabbed her by the scruff of the neck. Other co-workers reacted no differently. However, the knights of the 2nd Order did not understand their appearance. Hey, even though it’s the same article, there is a difference in culture between them and us, who are from different countries.
“From now on, what we have to do is simple. Dig diligently with a shovel until the oyster is in front! Rescue the survivors!”
“What if a monster comes out while digging?”
“It’s a field shovel. Just use a shovel!”
Their conversation only then realized what they were about to do and left the panicking knights alone, and they split the crew in half to dig each of the two burrows. They complained like that when they actually brought it up, but they started digging with shovels faster than anyone else. There are a total of two caves that lead to the village of green dwarves. The green dwarfs were also big, but the distance between them was not too far, as if there weren’t many people originally.
“It will take some time to dig all the way.”
“There’s no need to do that. They’ll dig the ground over there too. How many times have we shoveled? It must have rusted from taking a break?”
“Uhhh, you Git. Just try not to shoot yourself later!”
They gnashed their teeth, diligently digging the ground.
-Kiriririk?
“Go away!”
As they were digging, they heard the sound of forcibly widening the burrow, and as if to check what was going on, they slammed the large face of the desert locust out of the burrow with the blade of a shovel. Some spades were sharpened so that they could be used as weapons if necessary, but some Desert Locust carapaces were not that hard. I put a shovel next to the neck of the guy whose face was split in half like that and forcibly pulled it out and, together with other colleagues, shoveled it down with a shovel and turned it into a bowl of jelly.
-Kir…
“Cut off all the legs and cut off the head! We’re in a hurry, so let’s clean up later!”
In the end, they continued to dig the ground, leaving behind the one who had been smashed without even a single resistance. The tunnels that descended vertically were only visible when the height of the ground they dug was higher than them. The ceiling and width of the cave where the green dwarfs live was wider than expected, so it seemed wide enough for them to pass if they only bent their backs. However, this is still insufficient space for them to engage in battle.
“Isn’t this a glowstone?”
“It’s true. I thought that if I lived in a cave like this, it would be dark and I wouldn’t be able to see anything.”
“It seems that you were lighting up the cave with this.”
I also found a number of head-sized glowstones emitting green light, which seemed to have been used by green dwarves in place of candles.
-Kiri..Ik!
But now wasn’t the time to care about that.
“What are you doing without a shovel? Don’t be lazy and dig more!”
They moved forward, killing those who crawled out in the middle with a shovel. And how much dirt did he dig up and slaughter dozens of Desert Locusts? They finally arrived at a place that smelled different from before. They already had a hunch that their breeding grounds were not far from when the larvae, which were lighter in color and looked like they had been reduced to the size of a forearm, began to attack them.
Coincidentally, on the other side, I saw people digging the ground like them. As they dug the ground, the underground village the green dwarves had built was exposed to the sunlight. Except for that oyster. This smell came from a place they had dug, separate from the burrows they had dug. That must be the breeding ground they set up while occupying the green dwarf’s lair. With everyone holding their breath, Donnar looked into the cave with a glowstone that was nearby.
“Haha.”
Before his eyes could adjust to the darkness, someone groaned. But now, all he sees are the vague lights of large and small luminous stones that seem to have been embedded in the walls to be used as lighting, and the occasional movement that covers them. He kept an eye on the inside to ascertain their location more closely, and it wasn’t long before they were visible enough to be distinguished by the faint glow of the glowstones. It would have been better if I could have just checked that out.
The first thing that caught my eye was a green dwarf woman lying under a disgusting insect. She was forced apart from the thin but long, strong legs of the Desert Locust, forcing him to bend over and forcibly accept the human-like genitalia protruding from the tip. Their skin, which was still greenish, was illuminated by the light of the glowstone, turning even darker green, and even the sticky liquid that flowed from her gap was colored green.
The woman below did not respond as if she had fainted, but he was busy waving his things inside the woman to satisfy her needs. He wanted to curse at him, but it was important to locate them and the survivors now. A crackling sound coming from all directions.
“Ugh.”
The hollow groaning of women who were infused with non-pleasure pleasure filled the cave. Originally the home of the green dwarfs, this place has become a breeding ground for monsters full of green. The identity of this slimy smell may have been caused by the women forcibly having sex, but the bigger part is probably what they exude when they use them as hosts. Monsters basically take humans as hosts.
Monsters with an overwhelming size are enough to push the host with force. However, medium-sized or small-sized species that are smaller than that often incapacitate the target with narcotic ingredients, probably because there is a limit to that, and the Desert Locust seemed to be in that category. That’s probably why these women are especially helpless. Still, the green dwarves, smaller than humans and not properly protected, would have been good prey for them.
He somehow located all the survivors and gnomes and pulled himself back at the entrance to the burrow.
“Now, I think there are about 14 survivors. The remaining Locusts seem to be busy, so let’s send them away.”
They picked up the shovel again and dug out the wall of the den where they were breeding grounds and demolished the wall.
-Kiririk?!
I see those who can’t adapt to the sudden light and are confused. However, it was not the adults who were busy violating the host for a long time, but hundreds of small larvae that were pale in color.
“Tsk! No matter how you look at it, it doesn’t look like it was attacked today?”
“That must have been at least two days!”
They moved forward, shoveling or slashing the flying larvae and stomping the rest to death. Their targets were adults who could not adapt to the sudden situation. Despite this uproar, there were guys who were wary of them, but later on, there were guys who didn’t take out their genitalia from inside the woman or focused only on violating the host at all. They approached them, disgusted by their appearance. The first thing we had to do was get them away from them.
“Push it to the wall!”
They clung to them two at a time and pushed them against the wall with shovels. It was dangerous to bleed monsters when there were still survivors. And the rest of us have to get the women out. What came to mind, the knights of the 2nd Order helped them. Donnar grabbed hold of the woman’s body and pulled as if it had been threaded through his object. Then, along with his belongings, which came out with a sticky sound, a white trail was left under the woman.
After confirming that all the women had been rescued, those who subdued them with a shovel cut off their necks and finished it off. Digging the ground was harder than subduing the monsters, but they were able to rescue the survivors somehow.
“Whoa. It’s been a while since I’ve been shoveling hard.”
Donnar sighed, leaning on his shovel, sitting on the rough dirt steps. Even though they were good at using shovels, they couldn’t help but take time to watch the sun go down.
“I can’t watch Usher training today.”
It was a fact that he had not expected that things would be so late. There were no towns marked on the map around here, so I thought it would be a matter of simply annihilating the monsters. However, after discovering the slash-and-burn village of the green dwarfs, the story changed.
“I can’t believe it was already occupied three days ago.”
Most of the women had not yet come to their senses from the drugs they spewed out, but they were able to hear the details of the green dwarf who guided them to this village. According to her, it was already three days ago that they invaded their village, she said. So, the fact that they attacked the territory was the same as using this place as their own outpost, breeding here and raiding with increased numbers. If so, the question remains as to how she escaped alone.
“That, that’s what I meant.”
When they come attacking her. For three days, she wrapped herself in cloth to avoid their gaze, she said, and then came out through the emergency passage. True to her words, Donnar, she was able to find a burrow that led to the ground, barely fit even for a green dwarf’s size, in what was being used as a breeding ground. She must have managed to get away just like that, but in the end she was caught by one of them and they saved her from a near-death.
“It’s not that uncommon here.”
It was the knight who had acted coercively, kicking and crushing her earlier, who spoke her words to him, who recalled her conversation with her.
“It’s not uncommon. Is this kind of thing common?”
Then he remembered that they put dried grass from a fire into the burrows of survivors. Well, if this had been rare, it wouldn’t even have happened.
“Yes, there are many cases where green dwarfs made villages like this without permission and then were attacked by monsters and turned into a place where monsters were produced.”
So, if a lot of monsters suddenly attack you, you have to check it out.
“So I wanted to ask. Why did you work so hard to save them?”
