Chapter 85 – Rules of Barbarism.

It was about the time Usher reached their room with Belka.

“You there!”

It was the first time he heard someone shouting as if calling someone, so he thought it was calling someone else and continued walking until the sound of running that echoed through the hallway came right behind him.

“You! You!”

It was only then that Usher could tell that it was his calling.

“What?”

Wanting something, he turned around and saw a boy whose name he did not know who had approached him with a flushed face as if he had a fever for some reason. He was not a top child. Most of them looked younger than Usher. If so, it must have been the child of someone who originally lived in this castle. I wondered if he had done anything to quarrel with or upset the other kid, but nothing like that. After coming to this castle, he hadn’t been involved with any other children except for Mediah.

“What’s your relationship with him?!”
“Who are you talking about?”

He looked angry, but he kept avoiding looking at Usher, avoiding his gaze, and shouting with a high voice, so there was no time to understand. Could it be that he was referring to Mediah? Thought.

“The one you’re holding!”
“Belka?”

He seemed to know why this guy came because he explicitly pointed at the girl.

“Y-yes!”

Usher was annoyed to see that the face of the boy he thought was angry because it looked red just didn’t look angry. It was even more so right after Anyara noticed that their relationship seemed strange to her maid. He wanted to kick that face with his fist right now, but he didn’t know what would happen if he did that for no reason, and Belka was still in his arms, so he held back.

“Why are you dating?”

It’s a fact that I’m finally realizing, and I’m still not used to it, but I didn’t want to hide it in front of a guy like this, so I said it more confidently. Then, as if this situation was unexpected, the guy looked at him with a more blushing face. For some reason, he returned to their room feeling better because he knew he had taken a shot.

“Where did Sister Sif go?”

I returned to my room, but for some reason I couldn’t see Donnar or even Sif in the room. Since Donnar is a knight, he said he went to fight monsters, but he doesn’t know why Sif isn’t in the room. It wasn’t that I wasn’t worried, but first I was going to put the girl who couldn’t move her legs on her bed.

“Hey, Belka?”
“Huh.”
“Why do you keep holding on?”

For some reason, the girl kept embracing him without loosening her arms around his neck. So, if you ask in a state where you can’t stand up again and hesitate.

“…Can’t it?”

There was no way he could refuse the request of the girl who looked up at him with a sweet golden light. She was Belka, always taking his pranks, but sometimes her pranks were Usher’s. He was very happy with it, so he just lay down on the bed where he was supposed to put the girl. It was she who attracted him first, but the girl didn’t know what to do when he approached. At the same time, the body temperature that touched his collar warmed up his chest and made his breath rise.

His fingertips tickled, and he couldn’t stop laughing. It’s not that I don’t feel bad when I’m holding a girl face to face on the bed, but I wanted to enjoy this warm and fuzzy feeling more now. As they embraced each other like that, a girl’s voice was heard.

“Usher.”
“Why?”

Her voice calling him was so full of affection that it seemed that the listening ear would melt.

“Usher, Usher.”

It was strange that she kept calling him with her excitement. When she looked up, her reddish girlish face came right up to her nose. And the soft touch of her lips. She seemed to have gotten used to it now, but when she thought about the meaning of the act, she couldn’t hide her burning face. After she had done that, Usher couldn’t think of anything about Belka, who buried her face in his arms again as if nothing had happened.

“Huh.”

As he jumped up and climbed on top of her girl, she looked at him with her surprised eyes. She really was quite dissatisfied with the girl doing this, even though she knew she wasn’t the ignorant kid she used to be. Or maybe he wanted him to do it like this, and while he had a mischievous thought, he wanted to teach him what kind of things he would end up doing if he kept doing this. It was smart and I heard a knock on the door as if someone had come.

Usher wondered if anyone would come, but no one did. Sif or Donar had the key to this room, so she just had to open it and come in. If it were Medea, she was asleep and her maid took her to her room. He decided to stay quiet for now. Because he thought he wasn’t in and would go back unless it was something important. He heard a knock at the door again, so he went over to the door and tried to ask what he was looking for.

“I made sure you entered this room.”

If only I hadn’t heard that kind of noise outside the door. The voice belonged to the boy who had just asked about their relationship. Not knowing that fact, Usher clicked his tongue. I thought it was annoying, but I decided to just ignore it because it bothered me at a time like this.

“Do you not have to open it?”

The girl was puzzled by the way he went all the way to the door and then just came back.

“It’s okay. I’m not here for something important.”

He assumed that he had come looking for something to say to Belka anyway. If it was something really important, he would have come to me when the grown-ups Donnar and Schiff were around. It seems that Donnar went to catch a monster, and Sif was also away. It’s not a good feeling. If you just want to lie down with the girl. Thump thump! I wondered if it was gone, but the knocking sound got louder.

“…”
“?”

Bang bang! As if his patience had run out, he heard a strong sound as if he was about to break down the door beyond knocking, so Usher finally opened the door and went out.

“Why do you keep knocking on the door!”
“You were inside too!”

Usher was dumbfounded by the boy who whimpered and shouted in an angry voice. Who does he think he should be mad at now?

“Then, who will open the door to the guy who came for an apparently impure purpose?”
“What, what? Who is it!?”

The guy got angry again, but he was like saying he was being stabbed.

“So what’s so important that you came to someone else’s room?”

At this point, I was rather curious about what was going on.

“That’s…! So…”
“What?”
“The kid named Belka.”
“So why!”

When I asked him what he was doing, he stuttered and couldn’t speak properly, so he hurriedly urged it, so it might have exploded in the end. The guy, whose face was so red that it looked black, threw something he was holding in his hand at him. Damn! A loud noise echoed through his eyes. I felt bad, but compared to the loud noise, it didn’t hurt, so there was no stalling. If you reflexively catch the thing that is about to fall off your face.

“Gloves?”

Where the hell did you get this from? It was a large, worn-out leather glove that didn’t seem to fit his hand. It’s like throwing something like this in someone’s face.

“I request a duel!”

Such a strange word.

“So, is that the end of what you see?”
“Huh? Huh?”

When he was glaring at me as if he were asking me to tell him more, he looked embarrassed as if he was different from what he was thinking. Usher grabbed the glove he had thrown and threw it in his face. Damn! A loud noise echoed in the hallway once again.

“Go away!”

For no reason, you’re visiting someone else’s room and making strange noises! Usher slammed the door behind him, leaving the dumbfounded man alone. After that, he knocked on the door a few times, but gave up and went back after the knights returned.

“Ahahaha! Is that why you sent it back?”

When Usher had a late lunch with Donnar, who had returned with the knights, and talked about him, that kind of reaction came back. Even in a large banquet hall, I wonder if it was such an interesting story to burst into laughter enough to draw a little attention.

“Then why do you pay attention to a kid who does useless things like that?”

To Usher, the boy’s behavior was nothing more than a bizarre, meaningless act. He wasn’t particularly interested in him, so the act of asking for attention was just annoying. Especially because of the way he looks at the girl. As he noticed that it was similar to the gaze that Logi was looking at Belka, which he had no choice but to encounter due to Donar’s teachings, he only increased his vigilance.

“Kuh, it’s not like that, he must have been talking seriously in his own way.”
“Throwing an old glove in someone’s face?”

I thought it was just a bad joke.

“It’s like an old tradition. It’s usually used when knights want a duel. Where did the kid pick up the story?”
“I am not a knight.”

Of course, neither would he. If he had been a knight he would have thrown his own glove. He’s not a glove that doesn’t even fit him. Besides, who would accept the request for a duel without any hesitation? The purpose was obvious, but that made the duel all the more unacceptable.

“Instead, he’s an apprentice knight. Seeing that he knows that, he might be an apprentice knight too. Put.”
“What are you talking about so interestingly?”

Then Sif, who had not been seen until now, walked over and sat down next to Donnar. Beautiful blond hair that scatters light depending on the direction you look at, and green eyes resembling a forest. Resembling her family in Usher’s memory, she attracts attention wherever she goes. Even now, some people are glancing at this.

“Sister Sif? Where has she been?”
“Sorry, were you worried? I was helping because I needed a hand.”

As she said that, there was still wet water on her white hands.

“So what’s the matter with you laughing like that?”
“Ah, that’s what you mean.”

Sif’s question came out of Donnar’s mouth this time about the guy he had been talking about.

“Did that even work with normal children?”
“No. Apparently, I don’t know what it means, but it looks like there’s something, so I followed it.”

She listened to him and looked at Usher anxiously, but Donnar shrugged her shoulders as if it didn’t matter.

“So you’re saying you don’t have to worry about it?”

Usher had a lot of things to worry about, but he didn’t bother and decided to just ignore them.

“I heard the story. I heard someone challenged you to a duel?”

These were the words of Medea, who had received Donar’s afternoon training and approached him again after he was broken up in a mess by Logi. She fell asleep and was carried back by her maid, apparently waking up while he was training.

“That? It doesn’t mean much. Shouldn’t it just be ignored?”
“I don’t know if that will really work.”
“What are you talking about?”

Her meaningful words, her words of Mediah, gave her a strange feeling, and when I looked at her, she had a bitter expression on her face. It is a lonely figure that looks painfully as if it is reminiscent of bad memories.

“I know it doesn’t mean much, but kids are much more tenacious than you think.”
“Persistent?”
“Yes. Even if they seem to blindly follow the actions of adults, they have their own rules.”

For some reason, Medea kindly explained to him.

“For example. If you ask for a duel and refuse, you’re treated as a coward.”
“What? Those stupid rules.”

In the first place, it was a duel in which there was nothing to be gained by winning and only losses to be seen by losing. There was no reason to accept it. Rather, it is strange to accept.

“Yes, stupid. Primitive and barbaric.”

She added that she couldn’t even agree with him. Her words were filled with disgust and contempt, as if she had a grudge.

“Even if you eat something wrong today. Evil!”
“Is the mouth the root of all evil?”
“Okay! Okay! Let go!”

Medea let out a sigh as she looked down at Usher, who struggled in pain but couldn’t get out of her body after her training had drained her strength. She didn’t know that now she was in a more troublesome situation than she thought.

“Anyway, be more careful. Belka is the one who suffers damage if you do something wrong.”

Mediah’s voice as she said that was full of concern.
