869 – Is this the land of the one-eyed? – 3
The hospitality that began at the border continued unabated until reaching Rados, the capital of Armenia.
In every city I visited, in every city I got off the carriage for a meal, there were crowds of people welcoming me. More specifically, freed slaves from the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Although her complexion was somewhat dark, her eyes sparkled and her lips were filled with a smile. I could feel her sincere welcome, and I couldn’t help but laugh. I wouldn’t be treated this way even by officials from the Imperial Foreign Office.
‘But there were no knights.’
It was only after I passed through the gates of Radus that I felt a sense of unease. When I was being welcomed, I didn’t realize it because the Ministry of Foreign Affairs boasted about their one-man show, but now that I think about it, none of the people who greeted me were knights.
It’s surprising. Of course there were guards, but knights and soldiers are different. Sword-crazy and sword-loving sword-lovers—no, sword lovers—are the knights of Armenia. But these lovers have no reaction to the visit of the best swordsman on the continent? Honestly, it’s surprising. Considering my reputation, the knights should have welcomed me and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should have kept quiet. Why is it the other way around?
‘Are you shy?’
For a moment, I even had that thought. I thought maybe she was embarrassed to see me and didn’t come.
First of all, it’s not that the journalists are reluctant to me because of their pride. They have already given up the power game at the national level, and they have acknowledged that I am number one in the field of inspection. Tickling about such a topic late is actually a loss of face for them.
If so, it is a really unpleasant thought, a terrible possibility, or perhaps the Armenian knights are just shy, like fans who can’t say anything when their idol is right in front of them.
‘Knights Fan Club.’
Just imagining it makes me dizzy. I can’t help but imagine the sight of those sloppy men squirming around in embarrassment. What kind of hell is this?
‘There must be another reason.’
Finally, he quickly shook his head and discarded the terrible possibility.
If you think about it logically, it can’t be an exclusion of me. The heart and foundation of Armenians are the knights, no matter what anyone says, so if the knights were reluctant to accept me, it would be difficult for the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to welcome me.
And considering the cheerfulness and impulsiveness of the Armenians, it would be absurd to feel embarrassed. It would be more plausible to say that you and I were rushing out to greet each other and then got into a car accident. There could be dozens of overturned carriages somewhere I don’t know about.
Yeah, there’s probably another reason I don’t know about. That’s probably why you can’t see his face. You’ll see him anyway, whether you like it or not, while you’re in Armenia, so don’t worry too much about it.
“Towards the continent’s greatest sword! Salute to the sword!”
But I didn’t know I would see it this soon.
I had no idea that I would see over a hundred people at once.
‘What is this?’
I lost my mind at the sight of knights bowing all at once at the entrance to the palace.
I had to split the sky at the sword to celebrate the wedding of Ryutis. Because of this, I decided to visit the palace and greet the King of Armenia before enjoying my honeymoon. In fact, it was not a pleasant thing to see a monarch of another country, not even my own emperor, but since it was the King’s request, I couldn’t refuse.
So I was trying to finish my business quickly and go back. But there was a huge bomb waiting for me in an unavoidable space. I couldn’t see it. Was this something they were preparing?
“The juniors who pursue the sword meet the best sword on the continent!”
“””I see the sword first!”””
In the meantime, such a strange greeting followed that I was left speechless.
‘Juniors…?’
It’s really strange. I was just going to see the king, but I ended up becoming the senior of the Armenian knights. Even at a glance, there were a lot of them who were older than me, but in an instant, I became their senior.
You crazy people. I don’t know any juniors like you. I’m an uneducated adult with no seniors or juniors. If you call yourself my junior, it means you have to put down your diploma too. Do you think you can handle that burden?
“also.”
However, in the midst of this chaos, Fine, who was next to me, nodded her head as if she was satisfied, or as if it was obvious.
“I was surprised that only the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials came out to offer hospitality, but they were preparing something like this. This is proper treatment befitting the best on the continent.”
‘ah.’
I almost touched my forehead at Fine’s words.
My precious wife and number one follower, Fine. In a way, she is the pioneer who made the Knights Templar fan club, which was just a fantasy of mine, a reality. Fine, who was overflowing with love and respect, felt pride instead of flinching at the sight of this.
My husband deserves to be treated like this. He is the one who receives the respectful salute of the knights in the heart of the knight kingdom.
But my husband is burning inside.
“Welcome, First Sword! It’s been a long time since I’ve said hello!”
Not long after, I heard a voice that made my insides heat up even more.
When I turn my head, I see familiar red hair and red eyes. The flame burning inside me must be that red too.
“Hi, Ryutis.”
“Haha! This is really embarrassing, hearing such respect from the best swordsman!”
As I suppressed my bitterness and bowed my head to the culprit who had brought me to Armenia, Ryutis came closer with a hearty laugh.
“Greetings to you too, Madam! Unfortunately, I couldn’t congratulate you in person at your wedding, but I’m glad I can congratulate you like this! And I’m glad I can congratulate you on the day before my own wedding! It’s like God has guided me!”
Then he bowed to Fine and showed a respectful attitude for a member of the royal family.
Even though it was a formality, the royal family, and the direct descendants of the king, bowed their heads to a foreign nobleman. It was a treatment that even I, Fine’s husband, was momentarily taken aback.
‘Why are you guys just sitting there?’
The Armenians, who should have been more embarrassed than me, were extremely silent.
What is it? Do you think that this is the treatment that my wife deserves? If so, I am grateful, but also afraid. I am afraid of that madness and unity.
“Thank you for your hospitality, Your Majesty. I too would like to congratulate you on your success, but it seems a bit premature. I will return your greetings when the wedding ceremony is over.”
“Haha, that’s good! See you then!”
Ryutis laughed again at Fine’s words and turned his gaze to me.
“Okay, then let’s go in together. His Majesty the King is waiting.”
“I didn’t expect Your Majesty to personally guide me.”
“We should do this much between us. And I also want to see the descent of the sword with my own eyes! If it were up to me, I would have been there to pay my respects!”
I closed my eyes in silence at the atrocity of spewing out such terrifying words so casually.
But fortunately, it only ended in words and did not lead to action.
I’ve always wondered where Ryu’s personality came from.
Was it a mutation that came out of nowhere, or was it a natural trait that a bean grew out of where a bean was planted? Or was it a catastrophe that a bean was born as and grew into a bean? I’ve been wondering this for the past few years.
And today, a question that has persisted for years has been answered.
“Welcome, Count Tylglehen. You must have had a hard time coming from a long way, and I am worried that you might be tired after receiving such a warm welcome as soon as you arrived.”
‘ah.’
A middle-aged man who greets me with a gentle smile. He has an impressive red face and red eyes like a lute, but his face is filled with both strength and gentleness.
At the same time, he even expressed his regret by saying to me, “I’m sorry, wasn’t the protocol a bit excessive?”
‘Ryutis was a mutant.’
I just realized. The current King of Armenia is perfectly normal, but Rutis inherited his genes strangely.
I was impressed. To be honest, when the King of Armenia requested the Sky Sword, I was seriously worried that Armenia and the Royal Family of Robens had gone mad. Although Rutis was one of the most unique among them, I thought that the soil from the beginning was strange, so it must have been because of this that such a large tree grew.
But it wasn’t. At least the King of Armenia’s appearance was completely normal and peaceful. It doesn’t matter if it was just an act to hide his true nature. Because Ryutis doesn’t even act.
“Tired? What could be more glorious than being welcomed by knights in the heart of the knightly kingdom? I am deeply moved by Your Majesty’s grace in granting such great honor to a subject of a foreign country.”
“Thank you for understanding. The desire and longing for nothing is a symbol and identity of our country. No matter how royal they are─no, because they are royal, I couldn’t stop them.”
I nodded instinctively because the reason was so persuasive. The symbol, identity, and driving force of a nation are things that even a king cannot arbitrarily touch.
Yes, it’s great to say this. If you explain why the act of committing an act had to happen instead of just committing an act of …
“But Count. Is the lady who came with you the head of the special department of the Inspectorate?”
“Yes, Your Majesty. That is so.”
I didn’t ask him questions like, “How did you know?” Because if he was an imperial vice-minister, he would be considered a key figure who should be watched by other countries.
Even during the Special Forces era, Fine was active as a leader of the Mukwang, and became famous in high society after becoming one of my wives. If the king doesn’t know Fine, he should be skeptical of her abilities.
“Indeed. Your wife is also a great warrior.”
Anyway, the king quickly glanced at Fine and seemed to have realized her inaction, and let out a small exclamation of admiration.
As expected, the King of the Knight Kingdom is different. Just by looking at him, you can tell that he is at the level of a warrior.
“Should we change our plans then?”
‘…plan?’
The King’s mutterings began to raise a sense of unease.
Instinct is whispering. The plan I just mentioned is definitely not a normal, quiet plan. It is a plan that is bound to be noisy and involves me and Fine.
“count.”
“Yes, Your Majesty. Go ahead.”
“The knights of our country consider it an honor to just see the Count, who is called the best swordsman on the continent, but some knights wish to cross swords with the Count themselves.”
“yes?”
“They don’t take up their swords to defeat the Count. Just being able to cross swords with a master is a stroke of luck for a warrior.”
The anxiety became more and more evident.
“Count. Would you be willing to teach our country’s knights some lessons? Or perhaps your wife could come forward.”
“Teaching, are you speaking?”
“That’s right. Of course, this is not forced, and I plan to provide appropriate compensation.”
I almost let out a sigh at those words.
I thought he was normal, but it looks like he is indeed Ryutis’ biological father.
‘Why Fine?’
Why are you including Fine in that? If you want to challenge the best swordsman on the continent, you have to defeat the goalkeeper below him, right? Something like that?
