50. Let’s give the concubine a chance to shine
If Nilu’s current goal was simply to have the “royalty” of the Land of the Impossible recognized, in other words, if she herself wanted to become a “king,” then I would not do anything unnecessary to provoke her.
Additionally, partly out of curiosity regarding Nilu’s other thoughts, and partly to avoid too much contact between Kephiel and Nilu, which could lead to a dangerously scripted scenario for Kephiel, I decided to agree to Nilu’s request to accompany her for lobbying.
Nilu… of course did not refuse and immediately agreed, without even a hint of suspicion appearing in the script.
Afterwards, despite the earlier discord caused by Nilu’s sudden appearance at the summit of nations, most of the minor countries that had come to the Great Yng Empire did not return immediately; instead, they chose to stay temporarily in the Great Yng Empire. This group of people really didn’t seem to fear that Louis IV might take them all out at once.
At this moment, having received news from Louis IV, I was on my way to lobby alongside Nilu. The treasures from the scripts surrounding Nilu—the fairies—were all eager to tear me apart, but with just one gesture from Nilu, all those death scripts temporarily vanished.
Bearing the pressure of death that often accompanies me, I struggled to speak: “Now is the intermission of the summit of various nations. The majority of the small countries have yet to return, and they are continuously discussing trivial matters at the venue. A few great empires will not participate. Although it’s meaningless, the ‘main target’ we need to persuade is them; I’ve already found an excuse for us to join.”
After I finished speaking, I turned around, still puzzled as to why Nilu had not responded, only to realize: she was just like a real maid, silent and merely following me closely with a smile, watching me talk to myself.
If it were an ordinary maid, any man would feel a sense of achievement, thinking, “I’m really impressive.” However, considering Nilu’s current identity and strength, all I felt was tension.
“Nilu?”
“Yes.”
“Don’t say it’s not you. You’re the one who will go persuade them, and I’m not privy to the extra details; I’m just responsible for leading the way. From now on, it’s up to you. “
“Please rest assured.” Nilu bowed slightly, “I will do my best for you.”
This has nothing to do with me, and besides…
Consider this a friendly reminder, don’t be too careless, Nilu, because those minor characters from the small countries have no idea about your power and won’t investigate, and their attitude towards the Land of the Impossible is quite terrible.
Everything that followed could not have been simpler.
As I expected, after I finished briefing Nilu and was about to enter the venue, I saw Nilu change her demeanor upon encountering “outsiders.” She coldly set her expression, and in the blink of an eye, she became the “Queen” of the Land of the Impossible.
Then, amidst the varied gazes welcoming her, she walked into the venue.
This was indeed the venue used for the previous summit of various nations. However, even during the recess, some high-ranking officials from what I considered to be minor countries gathered together, huddled for warmth, discussing trivial matters with animated chatter, merely thinking about how to fish in troubled waters and secure sponsorships. All of this was clearly overheard by the people sent by Louis IV.
Nilu’s appearance immediately caused them to start whispering after their initial surprise.
“How did someone from the Land of the Impossible come here…”
“Really, what business do they have meddling…”
“Ahem, could everyone please pause their discussions for a moment?” Seeing the situation was not good, I could only continue to provide “extra service” and lay the groundwork for Nilu. “It was sudden, but Miss Nilu from the Land of the Impossible indeed has important matters to inform you all, which is why she chose to join us today.”
If Nilu wants to “claim the throne,” it won’t be easy, because in the script, these minor characters’ attitudes toward the Land of the Impossible are quite straightforward.
[Representatives from various nations rejected and mocked Nilu’s idea.]
After all, the Land of the Impossible is viewed by the public as a “huge den of robbers and thieves.” Any desperate person would run to the Land of the Impossible, where it’s inconvenient to capture them, without the level of “easy management ” that Louis IV has. It’s no wonder these people mindlessly dislike it.
But these considerations are not within my purview; I’m not the one claiming the throne.
“Miss Nilu, please.”
I pretended to be just an acquaintance, clearing the way for Nilu. As for Nilu, even before negotiations had begun, she already showed signs of impatience, as if speaking even a word to these minor characters was merely a waste of her time.
Because of this, Nilu’s words were excessively simple and straightforward; even though she retained basic politeness, there was not a shred of “preparation.”
“Esteemed representatives, I am Nilu from the Land of the Impossible.”
[Nilu does not want to waste time with those present.]
“The Land of the Impossible now has a unified organization, and naturally, it needs a singular royal authority.”
Without even sitting down, Nilu had already stated her purpose while standing by the table. Even though she intentionally retained a hint of suspense, such a degree of concealment could deceive no one.
“I wonder what everyone thinks of this plan?”
The script still does not reveal Nilu’s true intentions, but I know that without any preparation or disguise, stating her purpose so plainly will certainly not gain the agreement of these minor characters.
And it’s not just a matter of lack of support.
【Supporting Character A looked down on Nilu’s thoughts.】
A troublesome script came for Nilu.
“Monarchy? Just based on a place full of thieves and robbers?”
I don’t know who scoffed, but that comment immediately set the tone for what followed, and it wasn’t very friendly towards Nilu. Although I didn’t expect Nilu’s persuasion to go smoothly, it was clear that this group of supporting characters looked down on everything about the Unreachable Land.
Naturally, this included Nilu.
“Monarchy isn’t child’s play, little girl. I don’t know how you managed to get into this kind of occasion, but dreaming is better left for home!”
“Isn’t that right? This young lady doesn’t even know her own identity; she might be one of those lowly people from the Unreachable Land.”
That last remark was clearly a personal attack, wasn’t it!?
Realizing the situation was getting a bit out of hand, I looked at Nilu, but her reaction surprised me! It was as if she hadn’t heard those filthy words at all; she simply smiled normally, welcoming the accusations from these people.
In her stead, other scripts popped up in my mind!
【Nilu’s fairies would tear apart everyone here, leaving not a trace.】
Cough cough cough… Little brothers, you better stop talking; if you keep it up, your path will collapse!
I knew I couldn’t let things develop like this. It wasn’t just about caring for the lives of these supporting characters; I was still figuring out Nilu’s true intentions. Meanwhile, the queen had indicated that she could support Nilu’s persuasion appropriately. Setting aside positions, I had no reason to let Nilu suffer in such a place; she just wanted to be a queen, not to harm me.
Sigh… Nilu, please don’t misunderstand again.
“Cough cough, could everyone speak a bit more civilly? This is the summit venue of the Great Ying Empire, not a roadside tavern.”
I tapped the table, then met the unexpectedly surprised gazes of this group of supporting characters. “And… can everyone stop looking down on the Unreachable Land? After all, there are many sources of information coming from there, and everyone present has bought from it, haven’t you? Eating from the bowl and cursing the pot, is that the attitude of the major kingdoms? You’ve truly broadened my horizons.”
