53. Iron Fool Evolves into Iron Fortress
Ikusis’s perspective.
Compared to the time spent in the church, Ikusis has recently started to feel: it seems that staying in the Great Yng Empire and living a lazy life is much happier!
Because the Great Yng Empire doesn’t require me to lock myself away like those idiots in the church. Although there are very capable maids accompanying me the whole time, at least I have the freedom to move; moreover, the queen of the Great Yng Empire hasn’t asked me to use prophecies to give her any advantageous statements; more importantly: ever since that archbishop fell from power, staying under the protection of the Great Yng Empire has become particularly important!
At this moment, in the evening, Ikusis was huddled up, watching the maid who didn’t believe in the goddess at all, and thus wouldn’t be fooled by her, clear away the dinner.
“Well then, Your Highness the Saintess, dinner is over. If you have any needs afterward, please ring the bell and let me know, I will bring it over. From my personal evaluation, I hope you don’t request a bunch of snacks every night. By the way… you seem to have become very obedient lately, you haven’t even tried to escape.”
“Hey~ Hehe~ I’ve never thought about escaping~”
Ikusis’s gaze wandered aimlessly, showing no intention of making eye contact with the maid, and only sighed in relief after the maid pushed the cart away.
“Sigh…”
At times like this, would I dare to run out!? Unlike that purple old lady Claudilus who likes to act on her own, this time the master has come personally! Besides pretending to be dead and hiding here to avoid trouble, I wouldn’ t dare to run around; that old lady who got chased away must have embellished my actions in front of the master, and maybe right now the master is waiting to chop me up!
That said, however… staying here for self-preservation is completely meaningless. More importantly: I need to find a chance to tell O’Keefe about the master’s matters, the master’s power, abilities, the servants around the master, as well as the master’s true identity and dangers…
Tomorrow for sure, yes! Definitely tomorrow! On the way!
Ikusis patted her little belly and decided to return to the bed like this, continuing to enjoy the life of pretending to be dead and avoiding the master, but…
Some things are not as simple as Ikusis imagined. This is something that, as a fairy with prophetic powers, Ikusis understands all too well.
Suddenly, the lights in the room went out! At the same time, a strange yet familiar voice, as if engraved in her ears, echoed in her mind! This made Ikusis’s smile disappear for a moment, and she immediately put on a panicked silly face.
Among the fairies who once served by the master’s side, only the few who had their powers awakened and were granted marks by the master deserved the title of “servant,” and once one becomes the master’s servant, some things cannot simply be avoided!
“Ikusis.”
“Gah…”
The features of the fairy slowly emerged, and the moment she heard her master’s voice, Ikusis immediately spun around 360° on the spot and lay on the ground, begging for mercy!
“Master! I’m sorry! I’m really sorry, please forgive me! I can do anything!”
See! The master really came to find trouble with her! It’s all your fault! Claudia!
However, after a moment of silence, Ikusis realized that her master did not react with rage; rather, she seemed… very calm?
“It’s fine, I won’t hold your trip to the church against you. As for Claudia, it was she who disobeyed my orders, so you need not apologize at all.”
Ikusis lay flat on the ground and thanked her: “Master, wise and powerful, for eternity, unifying the world!”
To be forgiven just like that was truly admirable, so exhilarating! Truly deserving of being called master!
Yet, the next moment, Ikusis didn’t feel so excited anymore because…
“Since you wish to be forgiven as a servant, then… prove that you are a servant and do something for me.”
These overly familiar words immediately gave Ikusis the answer using her own powers. After all, as the fairy of her master, predicting the future for her master was an easy task; fairies could only unleash their strongest powers when serving their master!
However, the content of this prophecy…
[The master’s purpose is all directed towards… Oquilid?]
“…”
Ikusis fell silent for a moment, and after a long while, she lifted her head, struggling to maintain a smile. Fortunately, her master was merely communicating directly with her using the “master and servant” dynamic rather than confronting her directly; otherwise… if her current expression were seen, she would truly be killed by her master.
In the past, fairies who betrayed their masters had only one fate…
“M-Master? What is your request? What do you want me to do?”
She merely wanted to find a comfortable place to live out her days, Master, please don’t make her do something… she absolutely does not like. If that were the case…
“What I need you to do… is nothing at all.”
“W-What…”
“Ikusis, your prophetic abilities are sufficient to know my thoughts, so I want you to do nothing from now on. If you dare to pry into my thoughts or predict my actions again, then… I can only treat you as a complete traitor, just as Claudia suggested!”
The cold voice of her master echoed in her mind, causing Ikusis’s body to shudder. This was the innate fear and submission that a servant felt towards her most powerful and authoritative master. Once marked by the imprint in her eyes, it could never be erased .
Since her master had made such a request, it was clear that she intended to do something, and this was not merely an empty threat…
“You are my servant, and I will know your every prophecy about me at the same time. Ikusis, do not be clever. By the way… you might be worried about something, but I can assure you that I harbor no ill will towards Mr. Oquilid; rather, I am considering him. Ikusis, your prophecies about me end here; do not ask any further.”
Her master’s voice then faded away, leaving only the dim room and Ikusis still lying on the ground, yet to rise.
Her cowardly behavior of going to the church had already been forgiven by her master, and as for her curiosity about her master’s actions, it was merely concern for Oquilid, but… Oquilid had nothing to do with her, right!? Previously, she only needed him to protect herself, and now that her master had forgiven her, that old hag Claudia surely wouldn’t dare threaten her again.
She… no longer had any expectations from the Great Ying Empire or Oquilid.
So…
“You can escape from the palace of the Great Ying Empire.”
As the whisper arose, Ikusis got up and took a step forward. But…
“Do you… not want to leave here?”
Then, in the next moment, she stopped, fell silent for a moment, and clapped her hands! She shouted at the maid serving her on the other side.
“Miss Maid! I want ten pieces of fried chicken!”
“Do you think you’re a pig!? Your Highness the Saintess!?”
No, there’s no need to predict for myself; this time… I will truly rely on my own feelings to decide!
