64. It’s Not You That’s Wrong, It’s the World
As Kephir said, perhaps the commotion from her recent fight with Nilu was simply too “intense,” causing some figures to appear nearby. However, this time I didn’t need to worry about the safety of Kephir, her companions, or even myself , because these moving shadows were, as Kephir described, “reinforcements.”
After all, even though Queen Louise IV seemed to enjoy using me as a pawn, when it came to lending a hand, she certainly wouldn’t hold back! We didn’t even need to regroup with her dispatched personnel after dealing with the nuisance that was Nilu; the reinforcements had already taken the initiative to come to us!
Then, emerald light and shadow danced into view, and the pristine white cloak under the moonlight confirmed the identity of the newcomer! At the same time, my script began to unfold!
[Moriarty Appears to Assist!]
From the treetops, Moriarty emerged from the shadows, swiftly drawing out her cane. It was the first time I realized that the professor’s cane actually concealed another layer!
[Moriarty Uses Her Full Power!]
As the script stated, what the professor drew from her cane was a more exquisite short staff. Immediately, she began to swiftly and elegantly sketch out a series of emerald symbols in front of her—symbols I would likely never understand or need in my lifetime .
As the “former genius of the Great Yng Empire,” even though Professor Moriarty had fallen behind the current version, this tear of the era remained a figure of admiration in the script, a powerful seventh-tier wind mage, perfectly suited as a “ mobile artillery” for support.
Lost in thought, Moriarty had already completed her task, and then a low roar escaped her lips.
“Kephir, retreat!”
The ghostly green light flickered, Moriarty’s cloak billowed, and in the next moment, a whirlwind swept up all the grass and dust from the ground, surging toward Nilu like a tsunami! This was not a righteous boss battle where the protagonist faced the big boss one-on-one; thus, Kephir didn’t hesitate. The ice and snow of Alsace, infused with the lightning power temporarily granted by the threads of time, were also swept into the overwhelming whirlwind.
Could such a combined force finally bring down the once-invincible Nilu in the script!? But when I immediately glanced at the script, what I found was far from uplifting!
[Moriarty’s magic cannot inflict substantial harm on Nilu!]
That wasn’t the part I was worried about; I certainly understood that the big boss, Letty, wouldn’t suffer humiliation and defeat at this moment. Rather… it was the next line!
[But Nilu chose to take the opportunity to leave, and… informed O’Keelid!]
This was… the script content that sent a shiver down my spine! I suddenly felt a strong aversion to seeing what came next in the script, yet the script wouldn’t simply vanish because I didn’t want to look…
[Mr. O’Keelid, yielding to that woman’s demands will only put you in greater danger.]
There were no embellishments or descriptions, just Nilu’s words.
[But it’s alright; correcting the master’s mistakes is part of a qualified maid’s responsibilities.]
It felt as if… Nilu knew I would “foretell” her at this moment, so she prepared these “temporary farewell” words just for me!
[I will strive to make you aware of that woman’s malice.]
[I·Will·Protect·You.]
A chilling sensation swept over me, but when I focused again, after the howling winds had passed, Nilu’s figure was already gone, and the script only left behind the words [Nilu has left], as if mocking all that Professor Moriarty had just done , which merely facilitated Nilu’s escape!
“Ha…”
After all was said and done, Professor Moriarty sighed, helplessly inserting the short staff back into her cane. “Although I’ve gathered some information from the queen, to think she could leave unscathed right in front of me is truly disheartening. Am I really getting old?”
