40. All Members Are Traitors
In light of the reflections and critiques regarding the previous failed reform actions, as well as the details for the upcoming negotiations with Ivan Letty, an important meeting of the “Patriotic Organization” was finally convened through the arduous efforts of Reeve.
The location was chosen to be a library within the capital of the Rosian Empire. After all, as students of the Lubyanka Academy, gathering in a library would not easily raise suspicions, and the librarian here was one of their own.
With this in mind, Reeve found herself lacking the energy to correct the seemingly distracted “comrades” around her. Everyone was struggling to protect themselves, and it was best to finalize the negotiation details as quickly as possible!
“In any case, aside from getting Ivan Letty to make concessions on some principled hegemonic issues for the people of the Rosian Empire, we must also negotiate for the release of those comrades who are still imprisoned! The specific negotiation time will be communicated to us by Mr. Euclid, who was once active in the Rosian resistance. Please, everyone, remain calm; we will reclaim our rights at the negotiation table. Do not act impulsively!”
“I’ve already been somewhat monitored by the members of Rosia; I must return now. Please leave one by one afterward!”
The hurried footsteps of the girl; the perfunctory farewells from the remaining members; and… the somewhat lecherous glances from these “comrades” directed at her since the beginning…
Dealing with humans was undoubtedly boring and infuriating, and this was the most immediate thought of the chaotic fairy, Claudilus.
Sent here with her master’s orders, she had slightly altered her identity and appearance for easier movement. Yet, the humans sitting around the table still dared to lust after her tightly covered form, not even revealing her arms. Truly, they were lower beings, not even as clever as monkeys, akin to mere ants.
However, even ants had their uses; these humans still held a tiny bit of power, after all. The master’s mission was of utmost importance. To deal with that scoundrel, Jousis, and Kephiel, it was always more efficient to use others’ hands than to act herself.
“What Comrade Reeve just said is quite difficult for me to understand as a newcomer.”
Now, this Reeve had already been used once and was completely ineffective, but that was fine; there were plenty of more foolish tools in this “Patriotic Organization” than Reeve.
As this thought crossed her mind, Claudilus smiled and spoke. Her gaze fell upon the first member of the Patriotic Organization she had encountered, the young noble Nicholas of the Rosian Empire. This human was far more foolish than Reeve; she had merely struck a few poses, and he had become so infatuated that he spilled all the secrets of the “Patriotic Organization.”
Thanks to him, she had casually fabricated an identity as an “Internationalist Fighter” to blend in… Truly… Hahaha! What a pitiful bunch of humans!
“Comrade Nicholas, do you think Reeve’s plan is feasible?”
Look, just a glance in their direction, and these ants would completely lose their minds due to their vanity.
“Miss Luce, you have experience; you tell us!”
The surrounding male members chimed in, which made Claudilus begin to feel sympathy for Reeve. In this organization that Reeve was so fixated on, there were no genuine intentions to “save the country.” However, the master’s orders were more important; she would not apologize!
Taking a deep breath, Claudilus donned a serious expression.
“I believe this is clearly a sign that Reeve has already compromised.”
Then, as the surrounding members fell into silence, she continued, “Everyone, do not forget Miss Reeve’s identity. As one of the few oligarch daughters of the Rosian Empire, given her usual relationship with Ivan Letty, she has nothing to worry about even if she is investigated! On the contrary, all of you are now forced to endure the shadows of being monitored, investigated, or even captured!”
“Do you think such a highborn lady would seriously plan for you? This negotiation will surely be the result of Reeve compromising with Ivan Letty, and she will definitely throw you all under the bus. Perhaps… even the previous ‘attack’ failure was intentionally orchestrated by Reeve; how could she bear to give up her immense power?”
“Exactly!”
Just as Claudilus thought, it was never about the “Rosian Empire”; it was merely for her own group of humans who could not sit still.
Nicholas stood up, pounding the table: “That’s right! I sensed something was off with Reeve’s reaction long ago! It seems now that she has likely been betraying the organization while pretending to ‘negotiate’!”
“Exactly!”
“Those who have been pointing fingers at us all along truly cannot change their nature! They are not here to eliminate the tyrant at all!”
Once the tide turned, these humans began to complain as well. Whether their outrage was genuine or merely a result of jealousy and audacity that led them to join this organization was of no concern to Claudilus.
What she needed to do was simply to carry out her master’s orders to eliminate the enemies, nudging these humans slightly at the right moment.
“But it’s alright, we actually have a better plan now! The success rate is even comparable to the previous operation, and it can directly eliminate the tyrant of Rosia, bringing about a complete transformation for the Rosian Empire.”
As she spoke, Claudilus’s gaze swept over the humans before her. Their shallow desires were easy to guess, “By that time, you all will be the great contributors to the transformation of the Rosian Empire, and ruling the Rosian Empire together wouldn’t be too much to ask.”
Claudilus’s words landed like a bombshell, silencing everyone present.
“W-well, that’s not necessary. The Rosian Empire will ultimately be handed over to everyone together, hahaha~”
“Exactly, but the tyrant must be eliminated! Otherwise, when will we ever have our own rights?”
Though they spoke polite refusals, their eyes, already ignited with desire, had betrayed them completely.
Finally, under the inquiry of Nicholas, who was possibly the highest-ranking and most anxious person present…
“W-well, Miss Luce, why don’t you share your ‘idea’ with everyone for discussion? Just leave that traitor Leif out of it!”
“Of course, no problem~”
Claudilus casually laid it out.
This plan was enough to catch that idiot Zeus off guard, and the next step was her own task: to eliminate her master’s enemies.
As for whether Euclid would “prophesy” again this time? It didn’t matter.
After all, having received her master’s “blessing,” she was no longer afraid of his kind of “flowery fists and embroidered legs.” The fate of betraying the great master! The outcome of being an enemy to the master! There was only one path left: destruction!
