31. A Cliché of Stealing a Wife
Kefir and Nilu quickly ran to the gathering place of the elves, but they weren’t going over to join the seemingly enchanted elven girls around them in their infatuation; rather, they wanted to find out what was happening there.
How could these two big shots, Kefir and Nilu, act like ordinary girls who couldn’t control their eyes and hands just because they saw a “world-destroying handsome guy”? Soon, they returned with expressions of utter boredom, telling us about events that were strikingly similar to what I had just read in the script.
This sparked a wave of infatuation and squeals among the girls in the city. To put it simply: from the other side of the main city of the Rodland Kingdom, specifically from the area designated for certain royal families, came a seemingly powerful and famous elven knight.
As for why this triggered the wild outburst of these elven girls, the reason was simple: he was handsome. A strong and handsome national heartthrob would naturally elicit such a reaction.
I didn’t feel the slightest bit jealous, and it wasn’t the time for wild thoughts: after all, the two girls’ responses confirmed the content of the script for me. This led to a significant problem: the purpose of this elven handsome knight’s appearance in the script was precisely for Izalis, who was beside me.
And this series of events… no matter how you looked at it, it resembled one of those old-fashioned and tacky “wedding-stealing” plots.
Afterward.
Of course, we couldn’t recklessly rush over to find him in the middle of a crowd, so we quickly led Izalis away from the throng and returned to our residence.
At this moment, in the room.
As our gazes met, Izalis hesitated for a moment before directly revealing information about that handsome man. Whether it was from Kephiel and Nilu’s investigation or the content of my script, up until now, it had only been a simple introduction. Therefore… to gain a deeper understanding of the situation, it was clear that only Izalis, who knew the identity of the other party, could inform us.
“If Lord Kephiel and Lady Nilu’s descriptions are correct, then the one who just appeared and caused a stir must be the Elven Knight of the Rodland Kingdom—Lord Silver Knight.”
“Silver? Aren’t the protective Elven Knights all white?”
Now that the entire silver gentleman has appeared, is he trying to highlight his extraordinary aura?
“Indeed, as you said.” Izalis nodded, “But even among knights, there are distinctions, and silver… represents a higher rank, the ‘Commander’ who oversees the majority of the Elven White Knights. If we were to describe it in terms you are familiar with, it would be more accurate to consider him as the ‘Captain.’”
If it were just that, it would be fine, but both the earlier appearance of the script and Izalis’s subsequent words indicated that the other party had “ulterior motives” for their visit.
“You all come from foreign lands, so you may not have experienced it, but in fact, the Silver Knight enjoys great popularity in the kingdom and is considered the ‘ideal choice’ by many female citizens. Allow me to boast a little; in a certain sense, he and I are ‘the same.’”
After a brief pause, Izalis, who still seemed to lack a sense of crisis, wanted to tease me in front of the two big shots.
“Lord Oghirid, are you feeling nervous?”
Under normal circumstances, this elf’s provocation would have led to a storm of chaos, but unfortunately, this time her words had little effect. Because, rather than whether I was nervous or not, it was more appropriate for Izalis to focus on her own situation.
The appearance of that handsome man didn’t affect me much, but the problem was that the purpose of his appearance had already been made clear by the earlier script. This point didn’t need me to explain to Kephiel and Nilu; from the moment I asked them to “investigate a bit,” the two women should have already understood how complex the situation was.
Naturally, I wouldn’t let Izalis’s single remark turn me into a jealous mess.
“Pretty much, after all, he really did come looking for you.”
My ordinary response finally made Izalis serious, but I had no time to engage with her now.
Because this time, I might have misjudged the “danger” that the Elven Saintess Izalis would encounter.
After dismantling the death script concerning Izalis created by the second princess, Adreel, things didn’t end there. The princess sought “external assistance”—her sister—and the emergence of this content also represented the “main storyline” in the script, or rather, that Izalis would face new dangers.
I had always thought that this “new danger” would involve the other party targeting Izalis’s life through some other means, but I never expected that they would “attack” in such a strange way!
I clenched my fists: “Izalis, do you know anything else about this man?”
“He is the Commander who oversees the Elven White Knights.”
Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the elf before me no longer had any intention of teasing me and answered earnestly, “However, his ongoing duty has always been to serve as the protector of the Crown Princess. Theoretically… if he were to appear publicly, then the kingdom’s Crown Princess, Princess Urasilu, should also be secretly accompanying him.”
After Izalis’s words, new content appeared in the script!
【The kingdom’s eldest princess, Urasilu, appears.】
【Urasilu instructs the Silver Knight to take Izalis away.】
Sure enough! Although there are some differences in content, in essence, Izalis is now facing a “forced sale” script of “selling herself”! The specific details of the script have yet to emerge, but this time, the eldest princess’s goal is to “kill” the elven saintess from another angle.
This kind of script is far more troublesome than the previous straightforward one that aimed directly at Izalis’s life!
“Izalis, then what is their goal, you…”
“I can probably sense it, Lord Oqilid.”
Still smiling, but a serious expression soon surfaced on Izalis’s face. Clearly, she quickly understood the other party’s intentions. This is one of the few things that gives me some reassurance right now; if Izalis lacked emotional intelligence in this regard, I really wouldn’t know what to do.
“As long as you understand, then for the time being, until they make their move, do not meet anyone alone. All actions, etc., will be conducted in our company. Since they are targeting you, they won’t wait long; you can expect to receive invitations or similar requests soon.”
And the “danger” that Izalis is encountering this time will likely only be considered “officially starting” at that moment.
So before that…
“Kefiel, Nilu, could you please go find that elven knight and see where he’s staying? My identity makes it inconvenient for me.”
I instructed Kefiel and Nilu, partly because: the two beautiful girls could find the elven knight for various reasons, while it would be suspicious for a pure man like me to sneak around investigating where he lives; that would be more than just suspicious—it would be a bit perverse.
Secondly…
It also leaves a little bit of “alone” time for me and the elven saintess in front of me.
This “dangerous script” is completely different from before, and I want to… confirm her thoughts.
Once the two girls left, I turned around and looked at the elven saintess Izalis, who had likely been waiting for this moment for quite a while.
