My wound, about the size of her finger, was stitched up with black, stiff thread, which looked like a black caterpillar. She looked at my wounds quietly, and then she spoke in a relaxed tone.

“The wound tends to heal pretty quickly. I will disinfect now.”

As she said she lifted her long tongs from the tray she had brought with her. With her hand holding the tongs, she deftly opened the silver round tube, then she inserted the tongs and pulled out a dark red wet wadding.

“It stings a little.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she rubbed a cotton ball soaked in red pills on her wound. As Songchungi watched the surroundings turn dark red, the nurse’s sister opened her mouth.

“Patient, have you had breakfast?”

“Yes? Morning?”
