Chapter 49 – Part 1 Hunter – Slave (1)
“Minerva, Milene. Can I come in?”
Early the next morning I knocked on both of their doors.
As a result of thinking hard last night, I came to the conclusion that freeing Melissa like this is not worthwhile. It’s fortunate that it doesn’t fit the bill, and it might rather be the result of tightening my neck.
Having judged that, I decided to involve Minerva in the deal with Milene.
“Yuz?”
Milene poked her head through the crack in the door.
“I have something to say about yesterday. I want to talk to Minerva.”
“Oh, yes. Come in.”
Milene talked to her sister secretly, but she was a little taken aback, perhaps because I came to visit her proudly.
“What happened yesterday?”
Minerva was combing her hair, sitting on a dressing table with a broken mirror.
“I heard from Milene about the other sister, Melissa.”
“Mylene!”
Minerva was startlingly angry. I was a little scared inside, but Milene just pursed her lips.
“Why did you break your promise? I told you to forget about Melissa!”
Minerva was furious, but Milene didn’t lose today either.
“Why is my sister so angry? How can I forget when she tells me to forget? How can I treat a dead person when I’m alive? If there’s something I can do, I have to do something!”
“You don’t know how Melissa unnie felt when she said that?”
“I know! Forget everything! Just think about living together!”
Tears fell again in Mylene’s eyes.
“But I can’t forget it! It appears in my dreams every day! Every time I eat delicious food, every time I lie down in a warm bed, I think of it! But how can I forget it!”
It was a scream that sounded like vomiting blood.
Minerva had no choice but to keep her mouth shut as if she was shocked by Milene’s plaintive voice, who was usually quiet.
“Enough with the sister fights. I’m not here to watch fights.”
“I’m sorry…”
“Sigh, I’m sorry, Yuzu, Kheung.”
At my words, the two of them quietly sat down. Then I waited for the two of them to calm down and spoke again.
“Millene says that Melissa’s liberation cost is 60 million gold?”
“…That’s right. 1.2 million gold per year, 50 years.”
“Yes… Did you know that the average life expectancy of a person sentenced to hard labor is three years?”
The two bowed their heads gloomily.
“How long has it been since Melissa was sentenced to hard labor?”
“It’s just been about a month.”
“I see. I hope he is alive.”
At my words, Milene burst into tears again.
“Yuzu! Please save my sister!”
“Calm down, Milene. Crying won’t solve the problem.”
“Wooooo…”
He deliberately made Millene shut up with cold words.
“You guys have made money, so you don’t know. How much money that is.”
“Ah, I know, but…”
“60 million gold is enough money to buy 10 or 20 other slaves. It’s impossible to raise that kind of money in the first place, but even if you have the money, it doesn’t make sense to spend money on that.”
It’s a lie. There is plenty of money.
Yesterday, thanks to Mylene, I received 110,000 Rune Stones. 5,000 Rune Stones cost 8 million gold, so you can save 3 Melissa with just the amount that Milene filled up yesterday.
Besides, if I buy Melissa, I’m not the one who will do nothing and set her free. Investments can be recovered at any time.
But that alone doesn’t make any sense. Milene gave herself up to me so easily, but what if Minerva found out? Not only will her mood, which was almost getting better, collapse, but she may even consider me her enemy.
I have come to negotiate with Minerva to prevent such a situation.
“So I want to ask you guys. If I find Melissa and raise 60 million gold, do you really want to save my sister?
I dared to ask the question even though I knew that the obvious answer would come. To eliminate the escape route.
“I don’t care what happens to me. But Milene…”
Minerva’s answer was as expected.
“I’m just like I said yesterday! I don’t care what Mine-san says, whether Yuzu wants to be enslaved or grilled!”
It was the same with Mylene. But isn’t it a little too much to bake?
The lines were a little strange, but Minerva looked at Milene with a little sad eyes as she confidently declared.
“Minerva, what do you want to do? Milene is saying that.”
“…I see. If you save Melissa, and don’t tear us apart, then I and Milene will do as you say. Slave or whatever.”
Minerva also had a face that seemed to have made up her mind. She was surprised that the decision was much easier than she honestly thought.
“…Are you really going to be okay? I’m a much uglier person than you think. I don’t know what I might do. Can you handle it?”
“I know best what kind of person you are. Still, I’d rather suffer and die together than let Melissa suffer and die alone. Is Millene prepared to do the same?”
“Yeah. It’s not scary with her sisters.”
Milene holds Minerva’s hand tightly. And the two of them united and looked at me with determined eyes.
Um… Aren’t you glaring at me now? It looks like they are looking at a common enemy to be overthrown…
Is this also self-employed?
“…Okay. I talked about it grandiosely, but I don’t know what will happen yet, so don’t expect too much and wait. Today, I’ll just look for Melissa.”
I just said that and got up from my seat. It was not that he could not stand the attack of the twinkling eyes of the two and ran away.
Damn. I won’t make a mess of it tonight!
*
“Now then, let’s go rescue the kidnapped princess.”
I said that, but in fact, I had already found a promising place last night.
Simple. If you searched for ‘slave’ in the navigator, it was a shot.
One of 3 search results, State Slavery Administration. The other two were SM clubs called ‘Slavery Cafe’ and ‘The Queen and Slaves’. What is it
I decided to go to the State Slave Administration, which seemed to be the most powerful.
The Slave Bureau was a strange-looking building in the most remote part of District 3. It is wide on the sides, but only two stories above. And in this district alone, there was a very bleak atmosphere like a ghost town.
For some reason, it looked like there would be a sign saying ‘no public access’, but I didn’t see anything like that. Therefore, I decided to enter the main gate confidently.
Slightly moist air. It’s still early in the morning, so there aren’t many people.
Two men and one woman. Among them, I went to a fat, well-dressed man in his 40s and talked to him. Judging by his appearance, this man is probably the tallest person here.
“There is a slave you are looking for.”
He puts his hand on the desk and speaks arrogantly. The man quickly scans me up and down.
I look young anyway. Undoubtedly, there will be useless talk next time.
Before it gets annoying, I take out the rainbow medallion and hold it in front of the man’s eyes.
“There is a noble lady who became a criminal slave not too long ago?”
“Ah? Ah, yes, there is. Noble lady. Yes.”
The man is perplexed, but seems to be communicating properly.
“What’s the girl’s name?”
“Melissa. This is Melissa Redstar.”
The young man next to him answered instead.
See Did you find it in one room? Am I really a genius?
“Yes. Where is that lady named Melissa now? Show me.”
“Yes? Would you like to hire a slave? Melissa is currently overbooked…”
“Rental? What is a rental?”
The man sighed as if in trouble. It’s like he doesn’t know that either.
He’s the one I want to shoot.
“Criminal slaves who received labor sentences are called to work where slaves are needed every day. And the right to pay a certain amount of money to hire a slave for a day, this is called slave rental.
“…I see. Does Melissa get called often?”
“Kufufu. Even the customers know about it. Needless to say, Melissa is the most popular product! A sex toilet slave that is called everywhere in noble families! You can enslave an aristocratic lady who is the most beautiful woman for a day with just 100,000 gold! Only money! If there were, who would turn down this opportunity… Keheh!?”
Oops. Without realizing it, I ended up squeezing the man’s collar as if crushing it.
If he had gone in a bit more, he would have grabbed his hair and twisted it, but it’s fortunate that it’s his clothes. Ordinary people don’t come back to life even if they die, so they become guilty of murder.
“Hehe. I’m sorry. There’s a mosquito sitting here.”
I smiled slyly and brushed off the crumpled neck of the man. The man giggled and looked at me with the eyes of an absurd truth customer.
“Now that I’ve understood the story, let’s go see that slave named Melissa. You take the lead.”
“Yes?”
“Guide me quickly before I kill you.”
“Ah, ah yes.”
I kicked the fat man’s leg with my foot and urged him on. The man hurriedly got up from his chair and started walking in the lead.
“Hey, sir. If you’re sitting in the drawing room, we’ll…”
“Stop talking and guide me!”
“Ah, okay, yes. I’ll guide you right away.”
Follow the flustered man down the stairs.
The place is on the second basement floor. A little musty.
Two men stand guard, but both wear iron necklaces. It seems that the guards here are also slaves.
As you walk towards the inside, the slaves locked behind bars come up to see what’s going on.
“Excuse me, but what kind of relationship do you have with Melissa…”
“It’s completely different. I’m going to buy it if I like it when I see your face.”
The man walking in front asked me cautiously, so I answered honestly. The man tilted his head as if he didn’t understand this situation.
Huh. How does the sparrow know the will of the phoenix?
Before long, the man stopped in front of a prison cell. Inside, a woman was lying on her back.
“Melissa. Wake up. You’re a guest.”
“…I don’t think it’s time for labor yet.”
A voice similar to Minerva’s. But a fleeting voice that seems to disappear soon.
Seeing the woman standing up, I clenched my fists.
“Hey.”
“Yes?”
“Let me hit you with one shot.”
“S-I hate it! Hee!”
I put my tantrum, which had nowhere to go, into my fist and smashed it into the iron grate. It rang like a broken fist along with a cracking sound.
The man was looking at me like a madman. Praise my reason for not swinging at you.
“Whoa… Healing Fairy.”
As soon as I remembered, I summoned a healing fairy from the ministry. As soon as the Healing Fairy comes out, it treats the back of my hand diligently.
“Heal that woman over there… Not me.”
The fairy nodded slightly and flew to Melissa and began to sprinkle powder.
Melissa was covered in scars all over her body except her face, and there were things like crushed herbs all over her.
Bruises on whip marks. Scratches or cuts. Even her limbs, with her skin exposed, had countless wounds on both her hands. It looks like it’s old and worn out.
“Hey. What is this?”
“What, what are you talking about?”
“Why are you so hurt?”
When I held back my desire to beat him and asked, the man began pouring out his complaints like a rapid-fire cannon.
“That’s it, aren’t there some nobles with very unusual hobbies? We’ve made it clear. Yes, slaves are state property. You must not damage the state’s property. Please do not harm it. We have said that. But will those people listen to twins like us? Wouldn’t it be enough to compensate for the treatment cost, how much would it be, just like that. We can’t help it either. It’s true.”
“…Is that true? Aren’t you avoiding responsibility?”
“Really really! We’re going to die too!”
These dog shit bastards…
Ha… I never thought those nobles who appear in real stories would exist. How should I kill it?
“Hey, who is the Bocchan?”
The wounded angel asked blankly. She was literally the woman who looked like she had Minerva imprisoned for about five years.
Her chest tingles. When I look at it, I get a tantrum.
“Who is it, your master. Come out quickly. Go home.”
“Yes?”
