Chapter 10 – Zombie Apocalypse (7)

After checking out the window, I took a clean shower.

The day may come when the shower you usually take every day becomes a luxury, so take it when you can.

Naeun woke up because he was spending time searching for information on his smartphone with a clean body.

Naeun, who was sitting on the bed and looking around the room blankly, spoke to me in a weak voice.

“I hope it ends at that level. I’ll pay you a fine for just taking something from a convenience store.”

Naeun laughed jokingly, and I laughed too.

It’s a low probability, but we’re in an even more ridiculous situation where a guy called the Lord of Plague is negotiating with the world to spread zombies.

“Zombies are flocking there.”

Naeun said, pointing to the zombies outside the window.

Even the hidden zombies seemed to be drawn to the exploded gas station and were approaching like moths to fire.

They say that when zombies flock there, supermarkets and department stores become quieter.

“Na-eun, let’s go to the department store. Is there a place there that sells sporting goods?”

I passed the gym where I met Naeun yesterday, so I walked a little further and found a department store.

Many of the people who followed us went down to the basement to find the food corner.

As I was going up the stairs with the clearly reduced number of people, Naeun spoke quietly to me.

“Sian, if you have some free time, let’s stop by the women’s clothing section.”

“I can fill my bag without worrying about money.”

The sporting goods section we originally targeted was on the 7th floor, so everyone who followed us was exhausted.

Naeun and I, who usually exercise, are fortunate that we are okay with being a little tired.

When I opened the door and entered the department store, it was full of sportswear brands.

It’s a place full of practical clothes, but just as I thought that no one was there, I heard the sound of a zombie scratching its neck.

The other floors felt like they were robbed little by little, but I think it was overlooked because there were zombies here.

The hand holding the baseball bat was tense.

We couldn’t confirm the zombie’s location, so we started moving slowly.

I could use a method of luring them with sound like the female zombie at dawn, but since I don’t know how many zombies have increased while I was sleeping, I decided not to use that method anymore.

I walked slowly in the direction of the sound and found a zombie nearby with clothes hanging.

If you kill that guy, you will have already killed four goblins, which is more than the number of goblins killed at the Global Academy in half a year.

The zombie’s head exploded with a cool sound.

As the level and combat power increased, it became possible to defeat it in one hit by concentrating and attacking with both hands.

There was a loud sound as we smashed the zombie’s head, so we were on edge as we didn’t know if more would come.

Fortunately, I didn’t hear any other sounds, so I went to the sporting goods store I originally wanted to go to.

After finding a new large bag, I took the three baseball bats displayed outside and handed one to Naeun.

Naeun, wearing gloves, swung a baseball bat and then picked up a bunch of miscellaneous things like a water bottle and a wrist guard and gave them to me.

After acquiring the weapon I was targeting, I went to a nearby sports clothing store and bought a bunch of training clothes that fit my size.

Naeun also put something of her size in her bag, and we went downstairs using the escalator that was stopped in the center of the department store and then stopped.

The sound of zombies and people screaming came from downstairs. My feet became heavy as I thought about the place downstairs that was in chaos even if I didn’t see it.

“I heard that noise earlier and said no one was coming. It looks like there’s a mess down there.”

“What should I do? Seeing that there are people going to the emergency stairs, it seems like there is no safe place.”

Naeun spoke to me in a trembling voice.

Since I got some thick gloves from a sporting goods store and was wearing them, I thought I would have to compete head-on in order to complete the quest.

“Na-eun, I could swing a baseball bat with all my might when I saw a zombie, but can you do it?”

“Uh… Shouldn’t I do it? I think I can do it.”

Although she still showed hesitation, she didn’t make a weak request for me to do it for her.

I slowly went downstairs using the escalator with Naeun.

There was a lot of commotion, but the situation below calmed down and there seemed to be no problem on the 6th floor.

And as she went downstairs again, she suddenly thought about the zombies she had met so far.

“Na-eun, the zombies I’ve seen so far looked neater than I thought, right? In the movie, they looked like corpses.”

The elderly zombie clearly looked like he had a problem just by looking at his appearance, but the other zombies only had black eyes and a red glow when they became aggressive.

Other than that, the movements were a little strange, and parts of the body were torn off, so it didn’t look like a corpse.

It feels like I was just infected by the seeds of plague.

“If it’s quiet, I guess you can just assume that everyone is infected.”

The plague, or in other words the zombie virus, seems to prioritize infecting the disease.

If you are acting to transmit the virus rather than satisfying hunger, there is no need to seriously damage the host.

However, I thought that this type of thinking was similar to the way I tend to think about random things before taking an exam.

As I slowly looked down from the 6th floor to the 5th floor, I made eye contact with a zombie.

“Grrrr!”

The zombie virus is destroying the vocal cords, but they’re all making that sound!

“Look around, Na-eun! I’ll do something about coming up!”

“Yes, I understand!”

As I saw the zombies coming, I thought I would definitely complete the quest today.
