Chapter 28 – Zombie Apocalypse (25)
[The first object that humanity cannot handle has been born.]
As the sound echoed in my head, a huge shock occurred that shook the officetel.
I naturally figured out where the attack started, whether my calmness was triggered.
‘Wait a minute, this vibration can activate calmness?’
My skill survival rule #1, calmness, is a skill that can be activated in a crisis situation.
An invisible entity that is difficult for humanity to control has such power?
“Uh. What is it?”
Naeun’s reaction was weak, but it seemed like he didn’t know how to react, perhaps because he felt something wrong in his sleep.
This is really dangerous.
I jumped out of bed and looked for the direction where the shock wave originated.
It clearly started in the direction where the gas station was?
I looked out the window at a gas station in the distance.
And a strange phenomenon started there.
“It gets dark.”
The streetlights were disappearing one by one.
Judging by the intermittent thumping sound, it looks like they are breaking a streetlight. Why?
“Do I hate light?”
Naeun, who was looking outside next to me, muttered softly.
11:20 p.M., Quite late.
After the zombie apocalypse began, in Korea, where electricity is still available, streetlights become brighter every night.
And since the zombies had not yet attacked places with a few people, there were buildings with lights on occasionally.
Now, in places like our officetel where people live, unless they go to bed early, they leave the lights on.
Kwaaaaa!!!!!
A louder sound was heard again.
Naeun held my arm tightly and spoke in a trembling voice.
“Didn’t I hear that wrong in my sleep?”
“The officetel was shaking too. Naeun, turn off the lights first. It looks like they are attacking a place where the lights are on.”
The streetlights disappear one by one, and the houses with the lights on disappear.
What on earth was born?
Is this an entity that is difficult for humanity to handle?
Did you secretly bring back the corpses of monsters like orcs or ogres?
What on earth is the Lord of Plague doing?
Many thoughts passed through my head, but when Naeun turned off the light, the thoughts disappeared in an instant.
“We are not the only ones in the officetel. We all have to turn off the lights. And let’s take weapons. Let’s pack as much food as we can in our bags.”
“Yes. Right… A weapon? To fight with that? No?!”
Since she had turned off the lights, I couldn’t see Naeun’s expression clearly, but I expected her expression to be overflowing with worry.
“If you have to run away, shouldn’t you be hitting the zombies blocking your path? I cleaned it up during the day, but you still don’t know.”
“Oh, yes. I understand. Shall I turn on the light again and take care of it?”
“Then.”
As soon as Naeun turned on the light, we moved quickly.
While dealing with the fire-light group, I made it possible to use a gym bag that had a hole in it by applying box tape, so I took some high-calorie nutritional bars and a little water with me first, and also wore cardboard protectors on my arms and legs.
The three baseball bats were wrapped around her left arm, and she held the bat in one hand.
Meanwhile, a streetlight was falling down with a loud sound, and the sound of a building collapsing was heard with an even louder sound.
After quickly getting ready to leave and armed with the best weapons I could, I turned off the lights and left the room.
“Turn off the lights! The guy who says he can’t handle me is attacking from where the lights are on!”
I screamed out loud at the thought that regardless of whether other zombies came or not, all I had to do was avoid that ridiculous guy.
“Turn off the lights! Turn off the lights!”
I could also hear the voice of the person who lives on the 4th floor and gave me the toy today.
Why is it quiet down there? Please at least say something!
“Let’s go check downstairs.”
“Ha. I really… I hate it.”
I also hate this place more and more.
I think an individualized officetel would be fine to last just 5 days, but if I thought about anything longer than that, I thought I needed to create a proper group.
I went downstairs and checked the light coming through the hole in the front door.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
After checking that all the lights were off, I ran back to the stairs.
Naeun seemed to have gone down to the first floor in the meantime, so I went straight down to the first floor, but he was standing still in front of room 4.
“Naeun, why? Is there a problem?”
As we ran quickly, Naeun sighed and shook her head.
“You pervert bastard.”
As we got closer, Naeun said with a frown on her face.
The distant sound of something big breaking apart was getting closer, but we could hear a similar sound from the front door.
Thud. Thud. Boom.
“You crazy idiot says you can’t get infected.”
In Room 104, where light was leaking out, I heard the sound of something losing its senses hitting the door in a rhythmic motion.
“Naeun, step back.”
As Naeun moved towards room 106 and confirmed that the lights were off, I swung the baseball bat.
It was a little difficult to hold the baseball bat with both hands since there were three attached to the left arm, but it was still possible to swing it with all one’s might.
Kaaaaang!
With a swipe filled with frustration and sincerity, the doorknob was shattered in one blow.
Thud. Thud. Boom.
“What?”
I thought the zombies would jump out right away, but why is there no reaction?
I broke the doorknob, but he didn’t want to come out, so I gently inserted my finger and opened the front door.
As I had requested, the entrance was blocked by a pile of desks and furniture. Beyond that, the messy-haired man in room 104 had turned into a zombie and was regularly hitting the door with his body until he found me.
“Kurererererern!”
The guy with red eyes stretched out his hand through the cracks in the furniture.
I looked inside through the gap.
The lights were brightly on, and the headless corpse of a zombie woman was lying naked in the center of the room.
The part where her head was missing was wrapped in something like a towel and made into a roughly round shape.
If what I expected was correct, I received the influence of the contaminated mana from that zombie corpse while having sex.
Anyway, the damn guy in No. 104 became a zombie.
Kwaaaaa!!!!!
It didn’t seem like much time had passed, but the sound of the building collapsing could be heard quite nearby.
Naeun, who was in front of room 106, approached me quickly and then checked room 104 and cursed.
“You pervert bastard! If you’re going to die, die cleanly!”
To be honest, it’s a bit dangerous to break down a wall made of flimsy furniture, kill zombie number 104, then enter the room and turn off the fire.
Even if there is homeostasis as a rule of survival, it is not complete immunity.
Thump kwaaaaang!!!!!
A loud sound was heard from closer.
“What should we do? Are they just on top of us? It’s only bright up here.”
As if Naeun had given up on going in, she suggested it to me, and I was about to say that I would like it too.
Kwahiah Ah, Ah !!!
The wall of room 104, opposite to where we were standing, collapsed.
“Naeun, run.”
“Yes.”
Did I make the move for no reason?
I think I could have just quietly turned off the lights in the room and waited for the zombie to pass by, but why did I go out of my way to create this situation!
Clink.
While hearing the sound of glass breaking, as if the evolution zombie had broken the fluorescent light in room 104, we went up to the second floor and waited with bated breath for the evolution zombie to move to destroy the next streetlamp.
I slightly peeked out the window on the Bukdo side and looked down at the front yard of the officetel.
Clink.
The zombie that broke the window in the first floor hallway, climbed through it, and came out into the front yard of the officetel suddenly turned around.
Now, all the lights in the officetel will be turned off… ?
I walked around and checked the second floor.
There must have been a man walking around on the 4th floor and turning off the lights.
The third floor is… I can’t check from room 303 because it’s blocked.
“Ah, Jung Jun-ho, you bastard…”
Tung
When I was swearing in a low voice, it seemed like an evolved zombie had jumped into the front yard and entered the third floor.
“I… Made eye contact…”
Naeun, holding my arm, trembled and spoke in a voice full of fear.
“You made eye contact with that thing?”
Kwaaaaang
The sound of something breaking was heard from above.
Naeun nodded her head quickly with a scared look on her face.
You have to run away.
Kwaaaaa!
The moment I made that decision, the third floor hallway collapsed.
“Aaaaah!”
Naeun screamed, and a zombie came running out of the dust.
At that moment, perhaps my calmness kicked in, as time slowed down and the number of things I could choose from began to increase.
However, among the many options, there was no one to avoid.
Because Naeun is right behind me.
His left arm held out a collection of baseball bats.
Kaaaaa!
“Keuuuuu…!”
The zombie’s fist hit the shield made of a baseball bat, and the shock felt like it shattered her left arm.
Naeun was supporting my body, but she was only barely able to take the blow, so I knew there was very little chance of me defeating it.
The eyes of the evolved zombie, confirmed by the slightly shining moonlight, were still black, not red.
The guy tilted his head, looked at his right fist that hit my baseball shield, and then grinned.
“That crazy thing… Has reason.”
Looking at his actions, I suddenly thought that madness, not reason, would be more appropriate.
“Na-eun. I’m jumping out of here. I can’t fight here.”
It is difficult to swing a baseball bat horizontally in the hallway.
I felt like I needed to go to a larger space.
“What? Me?”
“Run up.”
Although it shows violence against light and possesses tremendous strength, its basic base is no different from that of a zombie.
The reaction to loud sounds is probably the same.
“Let’s go down and fight, you zombie bastard!!!”
He shouted loudly and jumped through the glass window of the second floor hallway.
I was able to land from a height of two stories with ease thanks to my stronger physical ability.
As I was shaking off the glass shards that were stuck to my body with my left hand, the evolved zombie that silently landed next to me smiled and stretched out her fist.
Kaaaaa!
I used my automatically activated calmness to block the fist with a baseball shield, but it flew so far that it hit the refrigerator placed at the entrance of the officetel.
Pow!
I had a bag full of emergency food on my back, which provided some cushioning, but even with the cushion, I clenched my molars from the huge shock I received from hitting the refrigerator.
If Naeun hadn’t supported me earlier, would she have flown and landed on the stairs?
The good news is that I haven’t lost my only weapon, the baseball bat.
There are 25 minutes left to clear the quest.
Can I survive 25 minutes against that guy?
“Damn…”
