Chapter 111 – Assassination Order (1)
The fact that two people go in and come out as three doesn’t seem to be a term used only in mountains and mills. Inside the carriage that had escaped the Plancia mansion, the maid was looking at us with only her eyes blinking. Isabel was humming at her with a look of amazement on her face, and I looked out at the vineyards and fantasized about having sex with the maid.
“Elena will be very surprised. She brought another maid besides herself.”
As I imagined myself groaning shamefully as I leaned against the glass wall, dyeing the window with my breath, I suddenly realized that Elena did not know that we were bringing a maid. Wouldn’t it be surprising if she was a child who took pride in serving Isabel in her own way?
“Are you okay. Elena knows that I’m having a hard time studying. I wouldn’t think too strange. To begin with, he was no longer a maid, but a manager. She is our new manager who goes to work from the mansion and manages the farm.”
“Would you like to?”
“Then. Haven’t you ever seen our Elena flustered or agitated over something like this? She’ll go unnoticed. Also while complaining about the increase in her military family.”
I nodded. I thought it must be because Isabel, who had seen Elena longer than anyone else, was saying it. The maid asked me carefully.
“Well, who is Elena?”
“She was originally a maid who managed our mansion. If you compare it to the main house of the Plancia mansion, it feels like a maid, right? Maybe?”
Since I had no memory of confronting Jang, the maid of the Plancia mansion, I looked at Isabel and asked for her consent. Isabelle nodded her head at my question.
“In terms of location, right? Important things in the mansion must be discussed with Elena. Oh, she wants to go back sooner than that. I want to see Elena, and I want to see Sofia and Rumia too.”
“Me too.”
I squeezed Isabel’s hand and nodded her head. It seemed inevitable that she would miss home whenever she went on a long trip. The maid stared at us holding her hand across her, like her opening ribbon, and she put her hand on top of it.
We grinned at her, and I asked her.
“By the way, what should I call you?”
“I didn’t have a name, and my code name was Mousetrap.”
“Mousetrap… I was number 17.”
Bad memories came to mind. Memories from his slavery came out like a surprise box at the slightest mistake. I said frowning.
“I want you to go home soon. We have to come up with a countermeasure for what happened this time, and we have to adjust our study schedule for Isabel.”
“Ah, I hate studying.”
Isabelle whimpered like her child. Now that she was being forced to study in a field that didn’t interest her, her current grumbling was understandable. I said with a smile.
“I have to do it anyway. Isabelle. After all, aren’t you managing the vineyards in your family name?”
“Can’t Evan do it for me?”
“I have to have sex.”
“Too bad.”
Isabel shook her head as she said that. But even so, she raised the corner of her mouth and smiled, and we met eyes before we knew it and couldn’t stop laughing like idiots.
*****
Thieves Guild. A masked man has appeared in a secret place in a back alley where only the savvy and powerful know its location. The contrast between the candlelight and the earthen wall gave off an atmosphere that seemed to be behind civilization for a few hundred years, and an old man with a white beard was sitting at a table that looked like a wine bar, wiping a cup.
The stairs leading to the basement were behind his back, and under the old man’s desk, daggers and daggers were readily available.
The old man, who put the cup down with the sound of footsteps and grabbed the dagger, recognized the masked man and bowed his head.
“Fabian.”
Fabian entered the thieves’ guild wearing a mask. The sleek mask only revealed that his eyes were blue, with only two eyes pierced like skulls. Because of the hood and hat that covered his head, the guild members could not tell what color his hair was, and because of the cloth wrapped tightly around his hands and legs, there was no way to know the color of his skin or whether he had tattoos.
“Okay.”
Fabian thought he was coming to the thieves’ guild after a long time. It was because he had been wandering around the capital and provinces for a while due to other missions. The old man, the manager of the thieves’ guild, bowed his head and said.
“It’s been a while since you came.”
“The Plancia family’s mission failed?”
Fabian asked the main point. The reason he came to the thieves guild now is because he failed in the mission of the Plancia family, who are on good terms with the Hero family. Ever since the hero rescued him from slavery, the mission involving the hero and his family was a serious matter.
The caretaker bowed his head, and Fabian drew the dagger from his thigh and raised it. The dagger was a deep purple color. Fabian said, waving a dagger with modest decorations in front of the caretaker’s eyes.
“Bring me. We have to follow the rules.”
The manager lowered his head and said. He pretended to be resolute, but there was no way to hide the trembling in his voice. Fabian read fear in the caretaker’s low voice.
“Well, in the middle of the mission, that bitch just hit the target in the eye and ran away. Because of that, the Plancia family is in trouble.”
“If it’s the mission of the Plancia family, isn’t it a mousetrap? He was a very good kid from the time he was trained, so why did he suddenly betray us and run away?”
Fabian remembered the mousetrap. He was memorable because he had the same blue hair as himself. Since it was a highly anticipated work that had endured the harsh training, I had thoughts of using it for heavy Korean work. Fabian couldn’t believe that the agent who had been so diligently carrying out his mission was being possessed by a man and running away.
“Sorry. It is my negligence.”
He put the dagger in and said to the caretaker.
“How much did you get as an advance payment?”
The manager cautiously stated the amount. Fabian frowned at the considerable amount. Because of his mask, the janitor could only hear him breathe lightly.
“Give it back. And, what mission was it? Seeing that you used a mousetrap, was it a mission to extract information?”
“A man from slavery married a woman from the Florentine family, and he used a mousetrap to create an excuse for divorce. However, he escaped because the mousetrap did not do its job and just made eye contact with the man.”
“It’s all special.”
The caretaker nodded, but said nothing else. Fabian asked.
“Did the Plancia family ask for anything else? The mission failed, so I guess we’ll have to clean up after ourselves.”
“Anyway, the offer came in first. They told me to make sure to kill that man named Evan because he doesn’t have to return the advance payment.”
“Death after being freed from slavery. It is miserable.”
“Isn’t that something that can’t be helped?”
“Give me the money back. We carry out the mission as it is.”
Fabian drew his dagger back. He felt bad at best for getting out of slavery and killing the man who turned his life around, but he couldn’t help it. After all, isn’t his life someone else’s business? Someone’s life was broken when they were happy in slavery. When he met a happy owner and lived well, he suddenly lost a friend and fell into abyss.
On the other hand, if you married a nobleman and tasted a luxurious life even for a short time, wouldn’t it be a happy life?
Anything else is someone else’s business.
In the end, it was something that Fabian had nothing to do with. Because the only connection he had left was the warrior.
“Would you like to go by yourself? We’ll show you the target profile right away.”
The janitor took out a wad of paper from behind. Fabian shook his hand and said.
“No, I have a request from Wolf right now. Choose someone with skills here and send them down.”
“Is that the case again?”
“Okay. We need to find a way to contact you across the elven forest, but we’re not on high alert. Besides, in Ithaca, a whistleblower who uncovered the corruption of Wolf’s acquaintances appeared. We also need to track his location.”
“Can we handle the Ithaca tracking case?”
“Okay. To do so If that Evan gun succeeds, there is no need to report it to me.”
“All right. Please be careful.”
Fabian nodded and left the guild again. As soon as Fabian disappeared, the caretaker sighed deeply, wiping the sweat from his forehead. Then he turned to the stairs leading to the basement and said in a low voice.
“We need an assassin.”
Dark shadows rushed out of the darkness with laughter. As if the night was about to attack, it colored the janitor’s vision black, and before he knew it, it split into four branches, each occupying a seat and facing the janitor.
The caretaker, who belatedly turned around, faced each other face to face. The assassins met the caretaker’s gaze and introduced themselves with a nod.
“It’s a viper. His specialty is assassinating opponents using poison. If you leave it to me, I can handle it quietly.”
“It’s a hunting dog. He’s an expert at kidnapping and torturing anyone. You can torture that guy named Evan until the Plancia family is satisfied.”
“It is mirage. Anyone can fake an accidental death. If you leave it to me, even the guards investigation will not happen.”
“It’s a bear trap. Mousetrap bitch tarnished our classmate’s honor. If you leave it to me, I’ll bring that bitch’s head with you.”
They looked sideways at each other, hoping that they would be chosen. Said the manager.
“Anyone. I will reward the one who brings the head of the target.”
Everyone laughed.
Because that was their favorite way.
