Chapter 123 – The North (7)
Rumbling, the carriage was shaking like my heart. Lorena and Alice were trying hard not to make eye contact with me, and I tried my best not to look at the mansion moving away. Is this the mind of a cow being led to the slaughterhouse? Not far from the North, but I had to shudder at the thought of the terrifying rumors about Baara.
“Dad. Are you okay?”
But I couldn’t help it. If it’s just the two of Lorena and Alice, if you make a mistake, you could be caught and killed by Barra. We didn’t know any information other than the impression of the fugitive who had now fled to the north. They had to search all over the northern part like this, but there was no way there wouldn’t be any accidents in the meantime.
A barren land has been unkind to strangers from generation to generation. The two beauties who arrived in a strange land were nothing more than excellent prey for criminals hiding in the snow. I had no choice but to participate in order to prevent an unexpected accident.
Alice and Lorena both looked uneasy, so I had to be brave here.
“Of course it is fine. Who am I? Huh?”
I tried to create a warm atmosphere by appealing to my strengths. Alice pondered, then opened her mouth.
“Uh… A father who is good at sex.”
Is this an advantage? In an ambiguous mood, I tilted my head.
“…If I meet Bara, will that work as an advantage?”
“…Isn’t that a disadvantage?”
Alice also looked at me with a mysterious expression and said that, and Lorena twitched her lips before giggling. My mood was ambiguous, but somehow it seemed to have succeeded in unraveling the atmosphere. Alice also looked at me and frowned, so she grinned and said,
“Ah, no big deal. The devil, the branch manager of the Demon World, is not going to be very busy either. If we’ve been quiet until now, wouldn’t it be great for us too?”
“I wish I did too. If that fugitive doesn’t run away in the first place, it’s a job that can be finished quickly. No matter how crazy that bastard is, if he had caught and killed people escaping from the north, he would have been a hero long ago.”
“Right, it will. It won’t be a big deal.”
We comforted each other. It was more like suggesting to each other to drive away anxiety rather than cheering them up. Just as spells and drugs reinforce a feared soldier before battle, we enumerated each other’s best possibilities and logic.
Of course, there was no one who didn’t know that not everything in the world is done for the best, and life always goes to the worst with the slightest deviation. We just turned away from reality and faced romance.
“By the way, what does that bastard look like? I want to see your face too.”
Turned the subject Too much optimism eventually turns around and makes you face reality.
“Here.”
Alice took the man’s montage out of her bag and showed it. It was a middle-aged man with a mustache, eyes like a hawk, and a slightly crooked nose. Furthermore, there was a large spot on his forehead, like a cow’s milk, and his facial features were so clear that he would be easily recognizable even in the snow.
“This should be easy to find. Speaking of a man with a mole on his face, there must be someone he remembers there as well.”
“A dot this big should be easy to remember. Wouldn’t it be roughly understood if I said it resembled a cow?”
Lorena studied her montage closely and nodded her head.
“Oh, yes. At the ranch where I worked, there were cows with these spots.”
We nodded. With Lorena even helping, it seemed that the man’s face really resembled that of a cow. After looking at the man’s montage for a while, we put the paper back in the bag and changed the topic.
“But if he ran away with evidence of corruption, wouldn’t that mean that he’s being pursued elsewhere?”
“I guess so. Maybe the thieves guild or the hero side is after it. The thieves guild received an assassination request, but they said that he escaped by luck.”
I nodded and looked at the bag containing the montage. I thought that he would not be an ordinary person to have run away from the people of the thieves guild.
“I thought there was some kind of hidden ability? It’s not easy to run away from the thieves’ guild. It’s me, they didn’t assume that I was the devil, so they caught it easily.”
“That’s right. That’s why the client guessed that this fugitive had some kind of magical artifact. So, when I met him, I told him not to provoke me unnecessarily and to teach me well and only hand over the data.”
“If you run away again, you really won’t catch me this time. The north is vast. If you go to an area that cannot be solved by interrogation, you should just give up.”
“I hope you don’t.”
Alice nodded. Lorena asked.
“By the way, it would be nice to have someone who knows a bit about the North rather than just going to the North recklessly. Evan. Are there any demons or people you know who have ever been to the North?”
“Doesn’t exist. I’ve never gone too deep into the North either. I just came to the beginning for a while and then I was taken to another place… All wandering slave traders are like that. Not giving slaves time to tour.”
Lorena listened to me and put on an apologetic look.
“Sorry, Evan was a slave. My thoughts were short.”
“What are you even going to apologize for? I’m also thinking that I’m grateful for the unfortunate past these days. It’s because I’ve been able to live each day appreciating it.”
“Really?”
Lorena looked at me with a curious expression. I shook my head and said this.
“No. Actually, what Lorena said hurt me.”
“You are too much!”
Lorena gave me her breaking ball, as if I would forgive her, and she broke down in tears. I said, putting my hand on her chest.
“I will forgive you if you let me touch your chest.”
“You can touch it anytime without asking permission…”
Lorena said as she pulled up her clothes. A black, tight-fitting bra supported her large breasts. It was a pity that her breasts looked a little small because of her tight underwear, but just the feeling of the soft texture in her hand calmed me down.
“Ah…”
“Ah, I see…”
Alice widened her eyes and frowned. Seeing her expression as if she had seen a ghost, I asked her.
“Why suddenly? Did you forget something?”
“Dad, do you remember that Orland she used to be?”
I nodded. Orland was the villain who tried to NTR my lovely Sylvia at the academy. He was the world’s villain who had his eyes on Sylvia and tried to attack Sofia as well, and if I hadn’t appeared, Sylvia and Sophia would have fallen under his spell.
“I don’t remember. That bastard.”
Lorena listened curiously to the story of the two of us. Alice agreed to say that she was a bad baby, but she shivered her body slightly and she told me.
“He went to the North to look for Sophia. Seeing no news so far…”
Alice slurred her tongue, and I shrugged.
“Forget it. He must have forgotten Sophia or Sylvia too.”
Alice nodded her head. Lorena was curious about who Orland was, but when I said she was ‘bad boy’, she seemed unable to ask. Alice looked at Lorena and said.
“Lorena. Are you curious about who Orlando is?”
“Uh? Huh. Who is this? What kind of person were you Are you saying that Evan is a bad person?”
Alice laughed and began her story about Orlando.
Orland, described from her point of view, was a villain in the world who tried to attack Sylvia, and was a person who broke up with Sylvia because of my wit. To her, her Orlando was nothing more than a figure interfering between her Sylvia and herself, and I thought I was that kind of existence at first too, she said.
“Honestly, I hated my dad a little at first. My biological father was a bit of a bad person, so I wished my mother would marry a better man… She says she’s marrying a former slave. So I was a bit reluctant.”
The story of the academy, which started with Orlando, eventually turned into the story of how Alice and I met for the first time. Lorena dyed her face red as she listened to this lewd story of youth, and held her scabbard tightly like a doll’s, bending over.
“Really, that was the first time I felt it. That my dad really loves me. That I can’t live without my father. I love my dad so much now.”
As Alice said, she hugged me by the neck. I kissed her and her, and her Lorena clung to me like she couldn’t lose. The journey to the north continued in that way. Through small talk, they confessed their feelings to each other and tried to forget their anxiety about the North.
In the middle of the village, I bought a northern map and tried to learn the topography, and prepared several dry meals for each individual in preparation for an emergency. The inside of the wagon, filled with winter goods and food, reminded me of the cramped luggage compartment.
A few days passed like that. The carriage reached the northern threshold. Carriages laden with luggage occupied the inn’s parking lot, and a cold blizzard hung in the sky. The dirt floor was frozen, and each time the horses’ hooves struck, the ice cracked.
“Now we are really here.”
I grinned at the breath coming out of my mouth. Lorena, unaccustomed to the cold, got off her wagon shivering, and Alice nodded her head as she snuggled up next to me.
“I know. I’m all here… Isn’t it too cold? How can people live in a place like this?”
“M-M-That’s right, Evan… ! You, too cold… ! Same… !”
“Once you get used to it, you’ll be fine.”
Demons have stronger bodies than normal humans. Regardless of the cold wind from the north, I opened the inn door holding the two of them in my arms.
The nasty people focused their attention on the parasitic brother and the two pretty women. I looked back at the people as if I was looking at something, held my girls hands and laughed. Someone clicked their tongue and looked away, and a bunch of bearded people whispered and winked at us.
Then, a blue-haired man was staring at me with his eyes wide open.
I couldn’t help but stop laughing and look at him.
Because I definitely remember seeing that face somewhere.
