Chapter 15 – Lumia (3)
The mansion boasted a modest size suitable for a demoted official. The ivy on the old fence and the messy flower garden symbolized the absence of a gardener. Not a single crop grew in the large yard, and firewood was piled up in the corner.
Carlson, the landlord, didn’t mind that the garden was messy. No, from the perspective of Rumia, Carlson didn’t seem to know that this place was a flower garden. If you go inside a little bit, you can see a neatly cleaned yard and a tidy house.
“The house is tidy.”
“Employees do a good job.”
Rumia nodded her head. Carlson chuckled and opened the door, and a maid came out of the kitchen, tying her hair up. The maid had blonde hair and an old-fashioned look, but she was more like a lady from an aristocratic house than a maid. She faced the owner who had arrived earlier with a slightly embarrassed face and bowed her head in greeting.
“Welcome. Is the person next to you a guest?”
“Oh, yes. Have some tea here in the parlor. Hey! Because guests are here! Come and say hello!”
Rumia quickly scanned Elena’s body. She does smell a bit like a demon, but she doesn’t seem to have been brainwashed or demonized herself. It seemed to her that she had been residing in the mansion for so long that she smelled like a demon.
Carlson gave orders to Elena, and then she called out three of her servants to follow her. But the servants didn’t answer, and only Evan awkwardly opened the door and came out.
“Ah yes… Master.”
“What about the other guys?”
“Oh that… I do not know.”
“I don’t know? No matter how much these bastards get their paychecks and eat them up. Where are you wandering around?”
Carlson grumbled, but he didn’t bother to punch Evan or complain any more. He knew very well that it was rude to behave like that in front of guests. Evan, who was nervous, turned her head to look at Rumia, and immediately hardened her face.
Evan knew Rumia. Lumia would consider Evan her first acquaintance now, but she had seen her out of her temple donation ceremony dimension when Evan first awakened her incubus powers. After moving awkwardly for a moment, Evan turned around and walked to the attic, pretending nothing was wrong.
Rumia just looked up at Evan, who disappeared into her attic without a word. She was a little surprised at how easily she revealed her true identity. The demonic aura that pervaded this mansion was the aura emitted by that attendant. A typical newcomer devil who doesn’t know how to properly store his energy and uses his strength.
If it was that level of a demon, I could exorcise it even with my eyes closed.
However, in this rural area, it was difficult to meet the devil. Rumia needed to report her major this time inflated to the fullest. She had to prepare for the grandest and most spectacular exorcism, and her exorcism had to be done ‘alone’.
A priest who succeeded in a huge exorcism ritual to defeat an unknown demon.
Isn’t that a pretty good sound?
Rumia nodded and followed Carlson to her drawing room.
In the drawing room was Isabel as well as Carlson. Rumia was surprised once by Isabel’s doll-like appearance, and twice by the fact that her body also smelled like a demon. It seemed that the devil had stayed in the mansion for quite a long time, exuding energy.
Rumia greeted Isabel.
“My name is Rumia.”
Carlson said, pointing to Isabel and Elena.
“This is my wife Isabel and maid Elena. And there are three servants and the slave I just saw, but… May I call you into the drawing room?”
At Carlson’s words, Rumia shook her head. Elena and Isabel met eyes with anxious faces, then looked back at Carlson. It was because it was not a very good sign for a priest to come to the mansion. Isabelle asked.
“What’s the matter, did the priest come?”
“Stay still. Bitch The priest will tell you now.”
Rumia grimaced at Carlson’s rude attitude and Isabel’s seemingly intimidated look. But now she didn’t come for her relationship counseling, but to catch her demons. Seeing Elena’s fingers wiggling nervously, Rumia said.
“For a moment.”
Then she stretched out her hands to the sky and began to recite her prayers in a low voice. As her murmur grew, clusters of light gathered at the tips of her fingers. She said that the small lights, like fireflies, grew as big as a campfire, and then exploded like fireworks, lighting up the whole room.
Isabel, Elena, and Carlson couldn’t figure out what kind of joke this was, so they only blinked. Rumia confirmed that the demonic smell that had been covering Elena and Isabel’s body had disappeared. The two did not react negatively or suddenly appear to have changed.
There were no minions who had been brainwashed or branded by the devil in this place. This was because when touched by this magic, the traces of demons or those who had been brainwashed caused a strong rejection reaction. Rumia nodded her head, then looked around her, she said.
“The devil is hiding in this mansion.”
At Rumia’s words, Carlson glared menacingly at Elena and Isabel. As soon as their eyes met, the two flinched, but Rumia couldn’t figure out if it was because she was afraid of Carlson’s personality, or if there was something about the devil.
Carlson asked as if pushing Rumia.
“So, who is the devil?”
“A little while ago, I saw a brown-haired attendant. Since when have you been hired as an attendant?”
“It’s been about a year.”
Carlson gritted his teeth. Rumia only asked a question, but it seemed like she had already noticed who the devil was. Isabel and Elena were also pale. The two held each other’s hands tightly and took a deep breath, pressing down on their chests.
Apparently, the people in the mansion trusted the slave.
“That slave is the devil. He’s a very cruel and scary guy. Even now, he will be secretly trying to suck your blood and absorb your energy to become a stronger demon.”
“That…”
Isabel shook her head with her confused face. Elena held Isabel’s hand tightly and she patted him on the back. Rumia could tell that the two women were quite close. Rumia tried to comfort the two who were hurt, and she said with a warm smile.
“It’s okay. Didn’t I come here? You must have suffered a lot in many ways because of the devil. I will exorcise the demon.”
“…Yes.”
Isabelle nodded her head. Rumia could sympathize with Isabel’s dark expression. She lived in the same house with the devil, what a scary story. That terrified expression was clearly created by fear of demons. Rumia brushed her hair back and stood up from her seat again.
The devil’s ability was insignificant. These three people were not brainwashed by the devil, nor were they the devil’s servants. It meant that he had three assistants who could help him without borrowing the power of the temple.
Rumia said.
“Then, I will go to the temple for a while and prepare the necessary items. In the meantime, the three of you here would appreciate it if you could prepare the items I’m talking about. Is there a cross in the mansion?”
Carlson scratched his head and replied.
“Oh, there is no cross. I was not a member of the church.”
“Then I will prepare a cross from the temple. For the maid and wife, I will draw an exorcism, so I would appreciate it if you arrange the items in the lobby on the 1st floor according to the dot of the picture.”
Said Carlson.
“By the way, what if that demon notices and runs amok or runs away? Aren’t we all going to die?”
Rumia had never heard of this kind of worry. Of course, she had long prepared for such a situation. Rumia pulled three of her rings from her inside pocket, she said.
“If you wear this ring, the devil will not be able to approach you easily.”
“Good. I really should just give you a bowl of porridge.”
Carlson smiled contentedly at that and pretended to punch. Rumia spoke to Carlson in a firm tone.
“You must not provoke the devil. And, it takes time for me to prepare the supplies…”
Rumia rose from her seat again. Before Elena or Isabel had time to stop, she slammed the door open and met her eyes with Evan, who was standing in front of her door. Evan startled and backed her up, then she clenched her teeth and tried to punch her.
But before he could reach her fist, Rumia drew a white aura into her hand and she fired it at Evan.
“Quaaaaagh!”
Evan, hit by a white bullet, bounced back and rolled like a ball. Kim burst out of his body, and Isabel was startled as she covered her mouth. Elena jumped up and shouted.
“Evan!”
Rumia looked at Elena and shouted in a stern tone.
“Have no pity! That’s the devil. The kindness shown to you is a mask. Do you know? All demons must disappear from the world.”
Rumia pulled her white string from her inside pocket and held it up. She collapsed to the floor and walked over to Evan, who was wincing, and she tied her up. Tied up by her, Evan tried to escape, but only his body wriggled as if he could not untie his rope.
“Keuk… ! Profit… ! Fuck… !”
Rumia nodded her head with her satisfied face, then she looked at Elena and Isabel, she said.
“Never let this string loose. Do you know? Until I return, keep them locked up somewhere in isolation.”
Both Isabelle and Elena nodded silently.
Rumia thought. She says things are going really well.
