Chapter 180 – Amaranth Monastery (4)
“Sinners do not go to hell! We can all be born again! Sinners who truly want to become new people! Follow us to the monastery!”
Andre was marching down the street holding a large sign. Religious monks in white followed him, nodding their heads or shouting slogans.
“Sins can be washed away!”
“Repent! Repent!”
“Everyone can be reborn!”
People sighed at the familiar sound of the chanting, or looked elsewhere and asked for a cigarette. A housewife who came to the market to buy groceries held her child’s hand tightly and said,
“If you don’t listen, will you send it to that man?”
In the market, the cries of terrified children intersect with the proud faces of housewives full of satisfaction. Thanks to the Amaranth monks who proudly penetrated the housewives, the market was transformed into a space where weeping and prayer intersect to the point of resembling a funeral.
The vendor who opened the stall spat on the floor and looked displeased, and the fishmonger screamed as he sprinkled salt.
“You sick bastards! Why does business stop coming out at this hour, this shit! Uh!”
“Ah! Oh God! Forgive those who sin! They don’t know what they’re doing! Intimidate me, the messenger of God! Please forgive those ignorant people who insult this noble and holy deed!”
Merchants threw their goods, and were angry enough to die. After walking around the market like this, Andre went to the guards.
The captain of the guard, who was personally acquainted with Andrew, allowed him to take away poor criminals who could not be identified or paid fines. Those who were taken like that were thoroughly brainwashed under Andrew’s education, and became new people who firmly believed in the teachings of the Amaranth Monastery.
Even today, with a satisfied look on his face, Andre lowered the sign and looked for the captain of the guard, trying to move on his stride.
“Director. Hey, look over there!”
The monk stretched out his finger as his body trembled. The shimmer that filled the shade was by no means a haze.
From across the street, I could see people in shiny armor walking with grim expressions on their faces. The monks gave Andre anxious eyes, and Andre too looked very nervous.
Andre knew what that armor was. That was the armor worn by the Holy Knights. A paladin in heavy armor was looking down at Andre, taking off his helmet.
“Long time no see. Andre.”
Andre knew who this knight who had just called his name was. He was the muppet of a family that supported Saint Alexander, and was a representative opponent of Andrew’s reformation program in the church. It was no coincidence that the man who dragged Andrew out of the church came to this city.
“To me. What is your business?”
Andre asked the knight with his stiff face. The knight grinned and gestured. It was funny that a man who had once been respected in the church had turned into such a cult, and it was because he felt obvious fear in the way he looked at his eyes.
“There have been reports that you are impersonating the name of the church and doing something outrageous. I heard they torture people and force them to recite prayers? They say that young children who may or may not be guilty are hung on a cart wheel and severely tortured until the child confesses their sins?”
“You seem to have misunderstood something. I am not that cruel. It is only through self-mortification that people can realize their sins. That kind of thing…”
The knight cut off Andre’s words. As the knight waved his hand, a pale-faced man was dragged behind him. He trembled, showing off his nail-biting anxiety, and as soon as he saw Andre, he hid behind the backs of the knights.
Said the article.
“Say the witnesses.”
With a majestic echo, the man jumped out again. He somehow tried to stand upright, blinking his eyes or twisting his body around. The knights patted him on the shoulder or patted his knee with their feet and whispered to him.
“If you do this well, I will release you. Uh?”
“Ah, I see!”
With a loud shout that buried the whisper, the man took a posture at attention. Andre frowned and tried to remember the man’s face. He was clearly the man he tortured. He was apparently beaten by the man who had walked out of the monastery telling himself that he was repenting and reflecting.
Andrew was shocked that he had deceived himself by refusing to admit his guilt.
He couldn’t believe that this man was pointing the finger at himself for giving him a chance to reflect on his sins.
“Hey, that bastard! It was! Making a sin that we don’t have and insisting on confessing! Again, I beat him with a whip, telling me to reflect on my sins! It even gives electric shocks with magic! I even supported myself every time I made a mistake until I had memorized the prayer correctly!”
Andrew’s face went white. He couldn’t believe that these accusations had come against him. The knight looked at Andre with a smirk and asked.
“This won’t work. There are also witnesses like this. Andre. Where did you throw away the image of the noble priest of the past and end up degrading to an advisor?”
“Uh, why… !”
Andre shook his head and took a step back from him. The knight ordered Andrew to be surrounded. Andre looked around and checked the faces of the knights. Most of the knights here were Alexander supporters.
The pitiful people who maintain their position as priests by licking Alexander’s toes. Dirty people who took the priest’s place that should have been theirs and now try to destroy even the monastery.
Andrew gnashed his teeth and shouted.
“Why are you doing this to me! I’m not wrong! It was always you guys who were wrong! My edification policy is not wrong!”
“What are you talking about? Andre. Your rehabilitation program has failed. It failed utterly. Don’t you remember how the rich and the aristocrats crawled into reform programs and got exonerated, mocked for being licensed to kill?”
The knight’s sneering sound covered the plaza like an epidemic. People quietly retreated as the knights camped out and put their hands on their hips. The merchants sighed and closed their business, and the monks clung to Andre and kept an eye on him.
“So what are you guys doing who got rid of the correctional program! Everyone deserved to be cleansed of their sins! But now, who are you bastards atoning for? Do you have the qualifications to forgive your sins? You dirty bastards! You guys are scum that pollutes the church! You filthy bastards who turned the church into a den of pigs! You will surely be judged!”
The knight laughed once more when he heard Andre’s threats. The way he screamed so much that saliva splashed out made me feel like a child throwing things when things didn’t go his way. The white beard, and the bloodshot eyes that contrasted with him, the knight was too funny.
“Yes. You will be judged. But not today. It is you who will be judged today.”
So the knight said and raised his hand. Paladins were approaching to subdue the monks.
“Aaaaa!”
Andre screamed and stretched out his hand toward the sky. At the same time, a strange wind began to blow around the entire plaza. The knight felt stuffy, as if a huge snake was squeezing the plaza. A strange, indescribable aura was emanating from Andre’s body.
Although it gave a feeling similar to divine power, it was an intangible aura that was by no means divine power.
The knight shouted.
“What are you doing! Catch that crazy old man now!”
“I am not a mad old man!”
When Andre stretched out his hands to the sides, a wing-like shape appeared in an instant and blew away all the holy knights. The knights who rushed with their ropes and swords rolled on the floor with puzzled faces. Andre reached out to the sky and started screaming in a higher voice.
“Ohhhhh! Oh God! Give strength to this old servant! Avenge those wicked sinners, and give them a chance to lead them into a new life!”
A magic circle rose. A snake-like figure appeared in the white light and wrapped itself around his body. Andre’s eyes were shining white, and black wings sprouted from his back. The floor was stained with blood from the wings protruding from his back skin.
The knight shouted with a puzzled face.
“Oh, the devil! The devil has appeared! Uh, what should I do? Should I ask for support?”
The driver looked around and asked. The other knights were also stepping back with agitated faces. Andre cried out with bloody tears.
“I will take revenge! Take all of you guys down! I will open a new world myself! Is it not today that you will be judged? No! Wrong!”
As Andre swung his arm, the floor collapsed with a heavy thud. Heavy traces of destruction moved along his trajectory, as if a giant stood behind Andre’s back and beat him with it.
“Aaaaagh!”
“Aaaaagh!”
The knights who tried to stop Andre were crushed by his punches and were flying away.
Andre’s voice resounded high in the sky.
“Judgment Day has arrived!”
