Chapter 208 – Alexander (2)
“You are not too strange, are you? I-I didn’t gain weight or lose weight, did I?”
“Are you okay. Are you okay.”
“Me, this, these clothes are too flimsy and strange, aren’t they? Huh? Why don’t you just wear it normally? What if I say it doesn’t suit me?”
“Is not it. Could my dad do that?”
Since morning, the two have been having a meaningless conversation in a teahouse at the entrance to the city. Lorena was wearing a dress she had never worn before, and Alice was wearing a neat suit. As Alice lazily hung the teacup from her finger and twirled it around, Lorena questioned if her dress wasn’t too full on the chest, and she questioned if her skirt was too puffy to make her look fat.
“Oh, is it real?”
“Because it’s true.”
It was a conversation repeated several times, but Alice felt that even the time she had this conversation with Lorena was enjoyable. It was because Evan was coming to Ithaca to meet the two of them in a little while. Shortly after sending the letter, Alice and Lorena encountered a small bat carrying the letter.
It seems that while Alice decimated the Hero family in Ithaca, Evan took a bat-wielding demon as his subordinate. He’s a very powerful demon, and judging by the fact that he’s been looking forward to meeting Alice and Lorena, his personality seemed fine.
Alice said, fiddling with the letter still in my hand.
“Daddy is very smart, isn’t he? I saw that he asked me to come and meet him when he would arrive.”
“I know.”
“Ah, I’m so excited.”
Alice said that with a smile, and Lorena smiled awkwardly. Her emotions seemed a little higher than usual. She expresses her delight with her exaggerated gestures and high voice that Lorena finds her strange, then she puts her letter back in her pocket, somehow trying to express that she is excited. Tried
It was as if she was forcing her emotions into alignment, and she was giving Lorena a strange feeling.
“Yes.”
Lorena pretended not to notice, giving her answer in a moderately high voice. Alice realized that her voice had subsided, she glanced up, and this time she smiled unfazedly and she said to Lorena:
“What’s the matter. I really enjoy it. You see daddy How long has this been?”
“It’s the first time since I went to the North last time. What are you going to do when Evan comes this time?”
“Sex.”
Lorena looked around her in amazement. Just as people turn around when their name is called at her raucous party, people turned their gaze to her to double-check the vulgar words that protruded from her woman’s mouth. And when she saw Alice’s haughty and beautiful appearance, she was sure she hadn’t heard, and she went back to her business.
“Ah, Alice… !”
Lorena was fidgeting with her, but Alice looked at her Lorena with her grave expression and asked her again, raising the corners of her mouth.
“What’s the matter? You were honestly looking forward to it too. Until I rented a hotel room in front of here, I was just excited about staying in a place like this.”
“Ah, no, that, but… ! Still that… ! Alice… ! You have to pay attention to your surroundings.”
“If you care about the people around you, you can’t have sex with your dad. People should live with dignity.”
Lorena broke out in a cold sweat. A passer-by of hers passed her, she glanced at Alice, then walked forward again, digging in her ear, wondering if she had heard it wrong. Lorena said.
“Alice. Today… Is that a bit difficult?”
She thought Alice was a little strange now. She was in high spirits, as if she had had a drink, and she seemed to be avoiding something in her, using a stimulating, strong tone. Upon hearing Lorena’s question, Alice rattled her chair and blinked.
The smile on her lips disappeared and she let out a deep sigh. Said Alice, scratching her head.
“It would be a lie if I said nothing. It’s our job. Who could have been in charge of such a large number?”
Alice turned it around considering her place. But Lorena could see what was troubling her. On the surface, it meant preparing for the harvest festival, but in reality, the two were participating in the operation to assassinate Alexander.
In this assassination operation, Alice built her career by giving various opinions and even preparing legal documents for harvesting.
What would it feel like to use her hands to kill a nation’s tycoon? How does it feel to be standing right in front of an operation where everything falls into hell the moment it fails? Lorena didn’t play her leading role in this operation. Compared to the people of Ithaca, including Rumia, she was Lorena because she did not have a grudge enough to assassinate Alexander directly.
Alexander never had a say in Knight Jack’s expulsion.
Lorena was sorry that she was of little help this time, but she was neither a paladin, nor was she in a position to be a proud spectator in a procession wearing her sword. Lorena had to stand by her side as Alice had to be on standby at her harvest altar, just in case she didn’t know.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t help.”
Alice saw Lorena’s expression. She was a lady from an aristocratic family, wearing a gorgeous dress and wiggling her fingers. Alice looked at her thin fingers and pretty lips.
“How much of a help you were last time.”
Lorena was in a very leading position in the previous Hero family purge case. She cut down seven guardsmen protecting the Hero clan’s kinsfolk, killed a man trying to escape, and took vengeance on a nobleman who spat in Jack’s face in Ithaca.
Because of that incident, Alice thought that Lorena’s revenge in Ithaca was over. Lorena shook her head when Alice said that.
“No. That… It felt like my revenge. I think Alice, you, Evan, and the people of Ithaca helped me with my revenge. So, so this time I wanted to help. You’re carrying the burden on your own, and I’m not good at paperwork, so I can’t help.”
“It is normal not to. If I ask the people in the Order of the Holy Knights to take care of my paperwork, do you think anyone can do it? You are doing your part well enough even now.”
“Me, my role?”
Alice’s words made Lorena widen her eyes. Alice laughed and stretched out her hand to her. Her outstretched index finger squeezed Lorena’s nose like her doorbell.
“Being by your side. Isn’t that the best thing a friend can do?”
“That, so great… It’s not…”
Lorena laughed as she twisted her body. Alice laughed even louder as she saw her face turn red. The shadows cast over her face were gone, and her exaggerated gestures were gone. Neither Alice nor Lorena noticed, but Lorena, as her friend, was taking Alice’s shadow.
Alice pushed the finished teacup to her side and said,
“Oh, that carriage over there. Isn’t it my dad’s carriage?”
Lorena woke up in a fright at those words, forgetting the friendship she had just shared.
“Uh, where?”
When he shouted in a high tone full of tension and joy, the guards glanced back and blew a whistle. Lorena tried to run by the hem of her dress, fidgeting with her clothes dragging on her floor, and Alice took her hand and said,
“There is no need to rush.”
“Yeah, that’s right.”
Lorena looked at their clasped hands and nodded her head. The carriage stood in front of the city gate and was being checked. The soldiers were giving simple instructions, and Lorena and Alice stamped their feet excitedly. When the wheels rolled and passed the gate, the horse shaved his head as if the sun was shining in his eyes again, and the coachman yawned and looked at the two women.
And through the window, I saw Evan smiling broadly. As soon as he saw the two of them, he opened the carriage door, ran like a child, and hugged Alice tightly.
“Alice!”
“Dad!”
They hugged each other tightly as if they would be crushed, and inhaled their body odor. Lorena stood awkwardly aside, then she slipped behind Evan and she hugged him on the back. The coachman was looking at Evan, who was loved by the two women, with envious eyes, and the guards sighed and said,
“What the fuck is this me?”
“It sucks, really.”
Evan pinched Alice’s cheek tightly, ignoring the verbal abuse that came from behind him. Alice liked the way he played with her as if she were a child. She liked to greet her with her warm face when she was having a hard time. As soon as she cried out that she wanted to see her, she liked the reassurance that came running at her step.
As she felt his strong arms and his warmth and buried her face in his chest, she could feel the tears come out of her own accord.
“Dad…”
Alice, in fact, did not want such a sentimental encounter. She was thinking of showing a little businesslike and grown-up look. To show her that she doesn’t have to worry about her, she grabs Evan by the collar and kisses him as soon as he gets out of her wagon. She intended to lick his tongue and whisper in his ear.
[Dad. Let’s go have sex I got a hotel.]
But now, a warmer emotion than her sexual desire was welling up in her heart. She hugged Evan tightly and buried her face in her arms.
“Dad. I was having a hard time.”
It felt really strange to see her fooling around. Evan and Lorena looked at each other with puzzled faces and then laughed. Then Evan put his hand on Alice’s head and stroked it slowly.
“Great job. Alice. Was it very difficult?”
“Yes…”
