Chapter 217 – Morbius (1)
Everything is according to plan
Thinking so, I leaned against the back of the sofa.
“I thought it was the most insecure at times like this.”
Everything was working out so well that it was really unsettling. The Plancia family decided to cooperate with us after much consideration, and churches across the country were rebelling against the existing ruling system and trying to regain their pure faith.
The news of the execution of corrupt people who had been influenced by Alexander in the existing church filled the obituary section of the newspaper, and it was necessary to create another page exclusively for obituaries.
The return of the church to normal was not very welcome from the devil’s point of view, but the security vacuum resulting from the temporary constitutional improvement was devilishly good. Thanks to that, Taffy was able to go to the capital with Isabel this time, and through a simple show of force, he was able to obtain the cooperation of the Plancia family.
“Evan. A letter came from the Plancia family.”
The Plancia family, though lacking in conscience, must have been thorough when it comes to contracts, and since they agreed to cooperate, they have been periodically delivering news of the capital. There were many stories that the nobles in the capital were still paying attention, or that various factions were forming and gathering behind Wolf’s back.
Some of the nobles were confidently gathering troops, as if they thought they could defeat Wolf, and some nobles bent even further under Wolf, as if to gamble.
The news that the aristocrats in the capital could not unite and were divided raised my mood even more. These days, I feel good just reading the newspaper while training my body.
Isabelle delivered another letter with a smile on her face. As she sat on my lap, she opened her letter and began to read it with me.
“Let’s see…”
[Some of the warrior families are plotting an escape.]
A long explanation followed with a brief introduction. It was a story that the people of the family who had been favored by the hero were looking for a ship to escape across the continent. They secretly sold their property and gathered supplies for their escape, while others clung to Wolf and comforted him or teased him.
“These are the kids who got everything they deserved from Wolf, but it’s a bit too much. It must have been sincere that the hero still took care of his family.”
Even though I was able to eat well and live well alone, sharing a seat with my family and protecting them until now was an act that can only be expressed in words as love. Even though Wolf’s family received undeserved love, they didn’t know the subject and ran amok.
“That’s right. Too bad.”
Isabel was also looking at her writing with a sad expression. Even though Hero Wolf was a lousy scumbag who committed an unforgivable sin, seeing him abandoned by his family like this made me feel uncomfortable.
“Anyway, should things go on like this?”
“I guess so.”
Isabelle nodded her head and made her cry. While we felt sorry for Wolf’s circumstances, we were contributing to pushing him further and further into the pit of hell. Wolf, who has no family and no friends, will have to deal with ‘us’ by himself.
And after defeating Wolf like that, he would be able to meet Lilith again.
“Taffy.”
When I called Taffy’s name, something like rust dripped from the ceiling. They left several round, black marks on the floor, and they gathered in an instant and took on a human shape. After describing the smooth surface with thick black liquid, it regained its original appearance, revealing fine hair and white skin.
I asked as I stroked Taffy’s hair.
“Taffy, you said you knew nothing about Lilith, right?”
“Huh. However. Milia. He said he knew.”
“That amount of information is not enough.”
Lilith was indeed a strange being. At first he came to me like an angel and lifted me up, but now he tried to manipulate me as if I were a puppet in a puppet show. The moment I got wrapped up in her body, I almost lost my sense of reason, and raped Taffy as if it were natural in the mood that I wasn’t myself.
Milia knew about Lilith, but with the information she had of her, she couldn’t figure out why Lilith was doing this to me. What the hell does she want? Does she just want me to defeat the hero and become the new demon king?
Will it really be the end if I become a powerful demon?
“Companion. Lilith.”
Taffy recited that.
When Milia asked who Lilith was, she replied that she did. She is one of the few demons known even in the demon realm, and even though there is no demon who knows why she is a ‘companion’ or for what purpose she acts. She sent a letter to Rumia, but she had no information that Rumia knew about the name Lilith, and the demon encyclopedia she brought from the church did not show Lilith’s name.
I asked Taffy with my eyes closed.
“But why is it your partner? You weren’t even the devil’s wife. The previous demon king said he was single, and the previous demon king was a horny man, what the hell did he say?”
“Only the furry ones. I made you a wife.”
“That’s right. You said that you were a fucking furry bastard and told the succubuses to put on their fur, right? If Lilith had been such a bastard’s wife, she would have been called a furry lady rather than a fancy name like ‘companion’. Whose companion are you?”
“The Demon Lord of the Pre-war War?”
There was no end to talking like that. Even without direct investigation, it seemed that he could know that the person called the demon king of the prewar era and Lilith had nothing to do with it. In the first place, if a nickname had been created in the realm we could guess, Millia would have told us.
“Oh, I don’t know. It’s nickname is pet, so does it make sense that no one knows why it’s called pet? Did you have a lot of husbands?”
I said that while scratching my head. In the end, I could only hear the nickname ‘Companion’, but it seemed that there were more things I didn’t know. Why are you a rebel? For what purpose are you moving?
“Evan. Us though I can’t run away.”
At Taffy’s words, I nodded once again. Regardless of who Lilith was, in the end I had no choice but to move within Lilith’s plan. She seemed to want me to become the Demon King, and I was steadily stepping on the steps to become the Demon King.
There was no option to run away. If you stop here, you lose everything. But the further I went from here, the more I somehow couldn’t get away from the idea that I was becoming a chess piece acting as Lilith intended.
I asked Taffy while holding my head as I wandered around feeling uncomfortable and proud that things were going according to plan.
“Taffy. Did you say that the map of our Mobius Mage Tower was completed to some extent?”
“Here.”
Taffy brought the map from my room right after I said it. The map, sticking out like glue, spread nicely over my thigh.
Milia’s servants, who entered the Mage Tower from the academy, had completed the map up to the second floor. The first 5 floors of the Mobius Mage Tower are a space for simple repetitive tasks or subcontracts for the production of magic tools, and it is said that academy talents work in turns on the 5 floors here, and then are assigned floors according to their skills.
Milia explained that this period was quite a difficult period in which people gave up midway because the work period was long and took a long time.
Of course, we had no intention of waiting for the entire training period. Even if the Hero relatives were blocking Wolf’s rampage from the inside, it was unknown how long it would last, and if Mobius finished his research at the Mage Tower and joined Wolf’s side, there was no chance for us to win.
The purpose of putting the academy characters into the Mage Tower was not just to search for these characters. The purpose was for the talented people who entered the academy to introduce succubuses to the wizards inside the Mage Tower, and for these succubuses to encroach on the staff inside the Mage Tower and quickly take a look at the internal situation.
According to Milia’s original plan, she expected the duration of the work to be around one month, and she said that she could reliably grasp the inside of the Mage Tower within two months at the longest.
I rubbed Taffy’s head while looking at the map. Taffy said as she leaned against me like a puppy.
“Evan. How long do you have left?”
“Almost done.”
In fact, I thought all that was left was to wait.
Time was never on our side, but at least it wasn’t on their side either.
Really.
I thought so.
*****
I once believed that time was not on their side.
However, when Millia climbed through her portal with her smile on her face, I faced a ray of shadow hidden by her smile and stiffened her face. Millia looked at me with a grin on her face and she said:
“Evan. I have good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?”
I had a hunch that the good news was not so great news, and the bad news was the real deal. So I first asked about the not-so-great news.
“What’s the good news?”
“There was a story about contacting quite a few high-ranking officials inside the Mage Tower. If you wait a little longer, I think I can make a map of the upper level of the Magic Tower.”
That was very good news. Did I get it wrong?
Actually, the bad news isn’t that great. Could Milia have planted the shade on her face just to make fun of me?
I calmed down and asked.
“The bad news?”
“Sylvia was arrested. I heard that Mobius took it himself.”
No fuck
