Chapter 27 – Academy (1)
From the edge of the dark green forest, the academy greeted us with a grim barrier. Stepping into the academy for the first time in my life, I was preoccupied with looking around with my eyes shining like a country boy.
“What, have you never been to the academy? You were a slave I’m sure you’ve been around here once. There is a lot of traffic in this area.”
“Where does a slave have time to look out the window and sightsee? Just look at the bottom and please let me meet a good owner. It’s normal to beg for it.”
“…Sorry.”
Alice apologized with a puzzled face. How far would a slave go? Even when I worked in the downtown area, all I could see was the dirt floor, and there were many occasions when I raised my head inadvertently and was beaten by passing nobles.
Sitting in a carriage like now and leisurely looking out the window was a luxury slaves could not even dream of. Said Alice.
“Even so, you’re a free man now.”
“Yes. I am a free man.”
The rolling sound of the wagon wheels filled the gap between the two of us with a sense of rhythm. Alice asked me, stroking her red hair. At that time, I was watching Alice’s thighs and fingers, managing her expression.
“Do you really want to marry my mother?”
Alice then spread her legs while lightly pressing the hem of her skirt. A rousing sound echoed just as her bare thighs brushed against her fabric. I nodded her head and said.
“Uh.”
“You became a free citizen. Didn’t that happen? There would be nothing good about marrying my mother.”
“Hey.”
“What, what is it?”
When I called out to Alice, she shrugged her shoulders and distanced herself from me. I asked.
“Why do you hate me and Isabelle getting married so much?”
Alice widened her eyes at my question, then turned her head away again. The scenery outside was also stopped because the carriage had to pass through the checkpoint. I waited for Alice’s answer, thinking that the shape of the mountain was like an animal’s teeth.
“You know what to do with that. If you don’t like it, you don’t like it.”
Of course, no reply came back. She glanced at me and added again.
“And you didn’t even say you were against it unconditionally. If her mother doesn’t change her mind in six months, will you allow her to marry?”
The wagon passed the checkpoint and started rolling again. The blue sky and forest area that used to fill my eyes were replaced by stuffy white bricks and dull signboards. Said Alice.
“Rather than that, look here. These are commercial buildings. Look at the locations as they are places you will use more often in the future.”
“Isn’t there a store or something inside? Inside the academy.”
“You are not a student, so you cannot use it. You have to present your student ID when entering the mall.”
“It’s annoying.”
Even if I had no plans to leave the academy, not being able to use the store was painful. If you need a place to take your time off while acclimatising inside the academy, but you can’t even shop around, what are you supposed to do?
“Then what do I do? I’m nominally your servant, but I can’t go out and walk around all the time.”
Alice shrugged her shoulders at my question and shook her head.
“Well? Just take a walk in a park or something. Oh no. If you get into a fight with nobles in the park, it’ll be a big deal. Just rest in your room if you can.”
It was just telling me to stay in the room. I was dumbfounded and looked at Alice and said.
“No, it’s just a prison. I’d rather have them work.”
“No, how do I get you to work? What are you going to say to your mother? You say she’s living with her father-to-be?”
“Ah, I’ll turn. Do you have anywhere to read a book?”
“Do you know how to read?”
Alice seemed curious that I could read. She said that slaves who could read were so rare. Of course, that meant the elite among “Slaves,” And since servants were basically able to read and write, there were not many people who dared to purchase slaves who could read.
Slaves tended to prefer the brainless and thoughtless to the clever and cunning.
“The previous owner was kind, so he taught me how to read. Me and my friends, the three of us learned to write, worked on the farm, and had a lot of fun.”
A smile came naturally to my face. Alice looked at me with a blank expression and asked.
“That… Why were you sold to him?”
“The master was framed as a devil worshiper and burned at the stake. I had nowhere to go. Everyone is scattered, I don’t know where they went. Everyone is dead except for me.”
It was ironic. After my master was unjustly killed for being a devil worshiper, I really became a devil. What will my master think if he sees me now? Alice shut her mouth and turned her head away. Just in time for her, her carriage stopped in front of the academy. Alice packed her things, she said.
“Let’s go. I’ll show you the room. You carry the burden.”
“Okay.”
My luggage was light as I hadn’t been there for a few days. I picked up a suitcase and followed Alice. A round beaded pillar stood in front of the large front door. Underneath the pillar was written in complex language, which I could not read.
“What? Have you ever seen cheating devices?”
“A fraudulent device?”
“Huh. A device that sets off an alarm when Magi enters a powerful demon or evil object. The darker that marble is, the redder it becomes.”
Right now, the orb didn’t show any change because I was hiding the magi. As a test, I spurted a little bit of magic. The color of the marbles did not change, as if they did not detect slight changes.
“Ah, isn’t something a bit cold?”
“Okay?”
Alice, who was right next to her, wrapped her arms around her body as if she was getting goosebumps, sweeping her away. She quickly went to bed and urged me to turn her steps in the direction of her dormitory.
“Are there separate dormitories for girls and boys?”
“It’s a long time apart, but there is no restriction on the entry and exit of employees.”
“How do you tell if you are a user or not? A suspicious person might come in.”
“Wait for a sec.”
Alice left me and went inside first. Schoolgirls in uniform glanced at me or whispered past each other, and I felt a strange uneasiness every time they glanced at me. Suddenly someone pointed
‘Why is the lowly fellow here?’
It was because it seemed to say.
“Did you wait?”
Of course, my anxiety ended with anxiety. Alice was walking towards me, her badge in one of her hands. As I accepted her badge, she said Alice pointing to her own flat chest.
“You can hang it here. With this attached, if someone asks which employee you belong to, it’s Alice’s maid. You just have to answer.”
“Ah, that’s how it goes.”
“If you lose it, don’t go out that day, stay in your room and wait in front of it in the morning. I’ll take it to the manager right away.”
“Okay.”
“Then, follow me. Because you have to move your luggage.”
A servant was hired, but it was also funny that Alice moved the luggage herself. I packed my bag and followed. Alice pointed to her room number and said.
“My room is room 203. Okay? If anyone asks, Alice in room 203. Or the 203rd Lady Alice. You can say Do you know the family name?”
“Family name?”
It was frayed. It was because, ever since he entered the house as a slave, he had never done anything in the name of the family, nor had Carlson mentioned it. Said Alice.
“Flancia.”
Alice looked straight at me and spoke again.
“My mother is Plancia Isabel. I am Plancia Alice. Alright then I’m a dorm student here. But you’re so suspicious, where are you from? Let’s say I asked. Then what should you answer?”
“No. 203, Lady Isabel of Plancia…”
“No, Isabelle is my mother. I mean, call me by my name.”
“Anyway.”
“Okay. What… Leave your bag here. Sit down and rest You have come a long way.”
I put the bag next to the bed as she said. I thought it was very fancy because it was an academy aristocratic dormitory, but surprisingly, the inside of the room was neat and simple. There was no fancy furniture, only a parlor table and a few chairs, and a soft bed and desk.
However, the colorful tea utensils in the kitchen cupboard next to it were a reminder that this was an aristocratic academy.
A warm-colored carpet adorned the floor, and there were several other doors in the corners of the room, which seemed to be bathrooms and closets. Alice sat down and said, not paying much attention to me looking around the room.
“Tea is in the cupboard over there, so if you want to drink, make a cup and drink it.”
“It’s okay. I don’t like tea very much.”
I shook my head. Then he carefully sat down on a chair and asked.
“Would you like a cup of tea?”
“No. I don’t like cars very much.”
Even for people who don’t like tea, the cupboard had all kinds of tea. I couldn’t help but tilt my head because it looked like a high-end product even to me who didn’t know much about cars. There was a small picture frame on her desk.
It was a photo of a smiling Alice with a silver-haired beauty with big breasts wrapped around her voluptuous upper body. I asked.
“Is that Sylvia?”
“Huh?”
Alice, who was reading, raised her head again at my question, looked at the picture frame and said,
“Ah, right. It’s Sylvia. My friend.”
As she said that, she lightly pressed her picture with the tip of her finger. The natural smile on his lips harbored a special kind of emotion that he hadn’t shown to me.
I sat down on the chair and rubbed my shoulders before kicking off the seat and getting up. It was because there was nothing to do even if I was resting here more. I thought it would be better to go to the servants’ quarters early and take a nap. There was nothing to be gained by slopping next to a woman who was hitting an iron wall.
Alice was drawing the line with me, and in many ways it was better to get her out of the way before she revealed her discomfort.
Alice said when I woke up.
“Bye. There is a servant’s quarters when you go out and turn right. Director Plancia came in today from the manager there… No, if you say you are a servant of Plancia Alice, we will assign you a room.”
“The servant also uses a private room.”
It was a new world for me. Alice said with a smile.
“I used a group accommodation, and the workers got into a fight and there was a murder.”
It was not very pleasant news, so I just shrugged my shoulders and opened the door.
“Oh…”
I opened the door and blinked my eyes. It was because the silver-haired beauty I had just seen was standing on the other side of the door. Her breasts were so voluptuous that her uniform couldn’t cover them, and her silence followed was lewd enough to contrast with her narrow waist.
“Sylvia!”
Alice pushed me away and hugged Sylvia tightly. Sylvia hugged her Alice, she said.
“Alice. Did you have a good trip back home?”
“Huh. Sylvia. I miss you.”
“Hey, this person…”
“I am a servant. Come in sooner than that. I bought you a car that you like this time.”
She skipped my introduction and dragged Sylvia into her room. Then she opened her bag and took out a small glass bottle. It was a specialty tea leaf sold in our neighborhood. Sylvia hesitated with an apologetic face and said.
“Mi, I’m sorry, what should I do? You get this every day.”
Alice said with a smile.
“Don’t mind. You know I like tea too.”
Look at this
I smiled and closed the door.
