Chapter 86 – Magic Tower (4)

“This is the sign of a pact with the devil.”

“Yes. Maybe someone in the Mage Tower made a contract with an imp for their performance. That’s what I’m guessing.”

Lumia and the wizards were gathering and talking in the forest area surrounding the mage tower in a semicircle. Rumia frowned as she checked the bloodstains spread out in front of her eyes and the faint magi.

The scene maintained through preservation magic was as vivid as if it had happened yesterday.

The bloodstains were scattered in a mess as if the picture had been erased hastily, and Rumia could see that these traces were the traces of a failed attempt to draw a magic circle.

“You were trying to draw the devil’s magic circle.”

“Is it dangerous?”

Rumia nodded her head.

“It depends on what you want. The devil’s magic circle is usually drawn to summon something from the underworld, but the magic circle is crushed and there is no way to find out what it was trying to summon. Based on its scale, we can only guess that it might be some kind of thing.”

“If it’s an object, you mean a magic tool?”

Another wizard questioned Rumia. Rumia nodded her head and said.

“That’s right. Usually in this case it would be a magic tool. You wouldn’t have signed a contract with an imp to buy a market place. If this is the trace that he tried to bring in the magic tool, I think we can guess that the culprit tried to gain fame by inflating his experiments or certain research results through the magic tool.”

The bearded wizard shook her head and said.

“There are quite a lot of experiments and studies that take place inside. There are just as many people who want results. That alone doesn’t reduce the pool of candidates.”

Rumia said.

“Has anyone seen an imp in person?”

“Doesn’t exist. Even if you are trying to find someone who is acting suspiciously.”

The wizard looked around and pointed to a man rubbing his back against the wall of the mage tower. Then he turned again and pointed at a woman whispering into a tree and a man wandering through the woods, wearing a robe like a cape and booing with his mouth.

“Wizards are so eccentric, there are many people who do this kind of eccentricity in this forest. If someone goes out in the middle of the night and does something suspicious, nobody cares because it’s normal.”

Rumia faced the wizards in the forest with her eyes, her eyes momentarily lost for words. She wanted to ask various questions about them, but she wasn’t here to ask about the mages’ personal affairs. After resisting her urge to ask a question in her head, she asked, lowering her voice.

“In other words, it means that this place is easy to spot. Why did the culprit choose this place?”

“I do not know. Was he confident that he would not be seen?”

Rumia thought she’d better get an answer from an eyewitness.

“I would like to hear a little more detail about the situation at the time of the discovery. Can I see an eyewitness?”

“There it is. Are you okay? The conversation won’t go well.”

“It’s okay. There are plenty of geeks in the temple.”

At the place the wizard pointed to, there was a man who spread his cloak wide like a flying squirrel and walked around making a boo-woong sound with his mouth. Rumia wondered if the author’s testimony could be trusted, but she didn’t dare speak out.

“Elton!”

“Yes!”

The man had round goggles over his eyes, and his hair was curled up as if it had been scorched. Answering the wizard’s call with a daze, the man unfolded his cloak again and ran to where Rumia and the wizard were.

“Booooong!”

Of course, I didn’t forget to make a boo woo-woon sound with my mouth. Said the wizard.

“Let me introduce you. This is Elton.”

“Pushuuuuu! Chop!”

Even during the wizard’s introduction, Elton continued to make the sound of himself moving through his mouth, then stopped flapping his cloak and sat down. Rumia said as she shook his hand.

“Fuse. This is Rumia. Nice to meet you.”

Elton shouted, holding Rumia’s hand tightly and shaking it around.

“Ah yes! Nice to meet you! My name is Elton! I am 21 years old! My hometown is Meerun Village in the West, and Mom and Dad live by farming! I’m studying to make flying magic! I really want to fly in the sky by studying hard!”

It was only then that Rumia realized that this man was no mere keut. When Rumia’s gaze returned to the wizard, the wizard responded with a nod of her head.

“Yes. Elton. I heard that you found your first contract with the devil here. I would appreciate it if you could explain it in detail.”

Elton shouted again, staring into the air.

“Demon contract! It’s not possible! If you make a contract with the devil, priests and knights will come and catch you!”

The wizard patted Elton on the shoulder and said.

“Elton. The priest is not trying to capture Elton. All you have to do is tell Elton what he saw and heard. Come on, Elton. Tell me what you saw here.”

Elton wiggled his fingers and trembled anxiously, then nodded his head and said,

“Bee, I’m going to practice flying! I came here, but there was a strange noise, and everyone came running! It was like this! And I don’t know!”

“Have you ever seen a demon or anyone doing anything suspicious?”

Elton listened to Rumia’s question and raised his head and spoke again.

“Demon contract! It’s not possible! If you make a contract with the devil, priests and knights will come and catch you!”

Rumia nodded and looked back at the wizard. The wizard gave Elton a pat on the back and made him run through the woods again. Apparently, there was not much to be gleaned from eyewitness testimony. Rumia scratched her head and said.

“My back hurts. There is no eyewitness testimony, only traces of the contract with the devil remain, there is no devil himself, and nothing happened after you found the traces of the contract with the devil until I came.”

It was literally an incident with only traces. There was no sign that anyone benefited from the demon contract, and no items containing demonic energy were found. Rumia was also considering the possibility that the demon had escaped.

The wizard spoke in a firm tone.

“But you have to get rid of these insecurities. Isn’t that proof that someone is making a deal with the devil anyway? The reliability of the Mage Tower comes to an end when it is said that the research results of the Mage Tower borrowed the devil’s power. Priest. I want to root out these hidden devil worshipers before they become active.”

Rumia said.

“It is possible that the demon fled as soon as the first contract failed.”

“Isn’t that just speculation? Priest. I want to be sure that the devil is not here. Priest. Please.”

Proving that it doesn’t exist is extremely difficult. Rumia said.

“By any chance, do you have magic tools in this magic tower?”

“Yes. There are about 3 licensed magic tools.”

“Then it is impossible to find anyone who has had contact with demons by searching. It must have been a while since you had contact with the devil. Rather, people who have been in contact with the magic tools will have more intense magic. If the people who handle magic tools directly made a contract with the devil, there is no way to find out with a simple inspection.”

The wizard asked, his face contorted at the negative remarks coming out of Rumia’s mouth.

“Then is there no way?”

Rumia shook her head.

“Originally, with no victims and only traces left, it’s really hard to find the devil…”

Now, she remembered Evan’s face and smiled.

“There is a way though. I would appreciate it if you could give me a few days.”

The sorceress looked at Rumia with her admiring face, and Rumia nodded her head and turned her around.

******

Evening time for family gatherings. We sat at a small table in the room and ate bread. Sylvia was sitting next to me, watching Rumia’s eyes, and Rumia was telling me the details of today’s incident with a calm face.

It was an incident that hit the goal just by hearing it.

There are no victims.

I don’t see anyone who made a contract with the devil.

There were no accidents caused by the devil’s contract, and the devil did not initiate action.

“But after we go back, if there is an accident caused by demons in the Ladia Mage Tower, I will be responsible for everything.”

Therefore, it was a very burdensome and troublesome kind of incident that could not be confirmed as Rumia’s escape. I asked.

“By the way, there are magic tools in the Magic Tower of Radia, so you can’t find the culprit just by inspecting the Magic Tower with holy power?”

“Yes. That’s right. So Evan. May I dare to ask Evan a favor?”

I grinned as I tore off the bread. Didn’t I follow her to this place to do this for her? I said while rubbing Sylvia’s butt.

“Just say anything.”

Lumia said the strategy with her eyes shining.
