Chapter 11 – New Daily Life (1)
From the day after I was discharged, my daily life became quite busy. Black Dragon’s Room and the Academy promised a small reward, demanding that they not publicize the accident that happened yesterday.
I pretended to be worried, but I didn’t want the article to come out, so I reached an agreement at a reasonable amount. The person who came out as the subject of negotiation was a fat teacher wearing glasses, and when I agreed to the agreement, he praised me as a ‘student who is good at social life’ with a very proud face.
Awakener: ‘Ada Bomber’ Jeong Su-hyeon
Stat
Strength: 13
Agility: 11
Intelligence: 9
Luck: 20
The status window has also changed. I didn’t have a ‘Fragment of the Almighty’ or a special passive in my skill, but I could see at a glance that my strength and agility had increased by a certain amount. It was not an increase that could be seen as a week of exercise, and my muscles did not change just by looking at them, but when I touched them, I felt that they were much harder and denser than before.
Thanks to that, I was able to apply for transfer with training with a stat of 10 or more and less than 15 while showing off my grown muscles. The instructor in charge was very curious, saying that I had grown at an unusual speed in a very fast time, but I was originally 10, but I was afraid that training would be difficult, so I went to a lower place.
I will never forget the look on the instructor’s face when he said that.
“Aren’t you overdoing it as soon as you get out of the hospital?”
Senior Yoojung came to visit me today as well. Even though she is a D-class hunter, she seems to be resident at the academy most of her time. I felt really good that she kept coming to me. I said while showing off my muscles in front of senior Yoo Jung.
“As late as it is, I have to work harder. I’m going to work hard and surpass the B-class hunter.”
“So you want to change your nickname?”
Yu-jeong recalled my nickname and asked teasingly. I smiled bitterly and nodded her head.
“Yes.”
Senior Yoo-jeong laughed at those words and covered her mouth. And she said as she rolled her drinking glass around.
“But don’t push yourself too hard. Then when you get hurt, it hurts. Now I’m going to be sent out as an apprentice for practice or E-class gate missions, but I have to be careful.”
“Sent as an apprentice?”
“Yes. We form a group of 2 D-class hunters and 2 apprentice hunters and have them perform actual E-class gate missions. It’ll probably start in two weeks, judging from the timing, but this… Every mission is different, so I can’t tell you what to do. In my case… It was just fun.”
Senior Yujeong nodded her head and she said so. Just saying that it was fun seemed to imply a lot of things. I looked into her eyes and said.
“I think it would be great to go with senior Yoojung.”
She smiled as she lowered her eyes slightly. And she churns her drink through a straw and looks at me, she said.
“Me too.”
A brief silence passed. I couldn’t stand this silence. It was because every time silence came, an uncomfortable, tickling feeling seemed to engulf the two of us. I told her
“What is Yoojung doing at the Black Dragon Room? You keep coming to the academy these days, aren’t you unable to work because of me?”
Senior Yoojeong stopped drinking at those words and shook her head and shook her hand. She said.
“Ah, no. This time, the guild asked Ichigaya Ichi to recruit students, so I put it here. So there are very few gate missions and I only have a few simple subcontracts, so I have a lot of time. Don’t be burdened.”
At those words, I was relieved again. On the one hand, I started to really wonder about the identity of this student named Ichigaya Ichie. What are you kid doing? I’m Japanese, but what if he sees my nickname and asks me to change Joe? Once I started to worry, my heart started beating again. I told senior Yoo-jeong to suppress her anxiety.
“That, thank you every time. Please help me like this.”
“There is nothing more fun than watching juniors grow up. I’m having fun too, so don’t worry.”
Senior Yoojung said so. She always had a smile on her face. The meeting always ended with senior Yoo-jung looking at her cell phone and getting up from her seat. She used to say this with her very sad face.
“Sorry. I have another job. Then see you next time?”
“Yes. Senior.”
*******
In a dark room, B-rank hunter ‘Thunder Sword’ Lee Jun-hyeok was smoking a cigarette and frowning. In front of him, ‘Kim Yoo-jung’ Kim Yoo-jung was sitting with an uneasy face.
Hunter Lee Jun-hyeok was a Hunter who had recently supervised the Almighty’s debris collection project at the academy and oversaw the business. Because of that, he had a confrontation with teacher ‘Summer Coffee’ Lee Jung-ah, and even received a protest from the academy for negligent supervision, and even received a pay cut within the guild.
It was a week after the collapse. He couldn’t believe that after digging under the ground for a week, nothing came out. It was because the information brought from the Black Dragon Room was perfect. He collated a total of three documented documents, and clearly confirmed the premonition phenomenon that often appears in places where there are fragments of the omnipotence ritual.
“Hey, Kim Yoo-jung. Do you think this makes sense?”
Exhaling smoke from his cigarette, Lee Junhyuk frowned. Kim Yoo-jung didn’t know why she was here. She was the same Black Dragon Hunter working within the academy, but it was because the two were distinctly different in their work.
Hunter Kim Yoo-jung’s job was to recruit Ichigaya Ichie. Hunter Lee Jun-hyeok’s job was to collect fragments of the Almighty. She was suspicious that Hunter Lee Jun-hyeok was using his rank to abuse her. So she braced her legs and held her desk so she could kick out of her seat if necessary.
“I’m not familiar with this kind of thing, so I don’t know. I don’t even know about fragments of the Almighty because I’ve heard them in fragments.”
Lee Joon-hyeok got a little annoyed when Kim Yoo-jung took off her pretense.
“Hey, hey. It’s not that you don’t know or don’t know. Let’s think of something else. Uh? Let’s say there is a bomb. I cross-checked three documents that said there was a bomb, and I also checked the important phenomenon that appears when there is a bomb. Does this make sense or not?”
“I don’t think so.”
She said with a nod of her head. Lee Jun-hyeok said as he extinguished his cigarette in the ashtray.
“It’s not like the fragments of the Almighty ran away somewhere. Yes?”
Kim Yoo-jung did not answer. Lee Jun-hyeok clicked her tongue and said.
“Because someone took it. This is probably not seeing the fragments. Don’t you think that’s exactly what you think? If not, do you have any answers other than who took it?”
“Yes… Joe?”
Kim Yoo-jung didn’t know why she called herself here. It was because if she was going to make Lee Jun-hyeok nod her head at what he was saying, then she would call in Lee Jun-hyeok’s direct subordinates instead of herself and stop. She wanted Lee Jun-hyeok to tell the story.
“That, that crazy bastard. That bastard would have taken it.”
“Who are you?”
When she said that she was a crazy asshole, Kim Yoo-jung couldn’t get a sense of it. She replied with her face that she didn’t know who she was, so Lee Jun-hyeok twisted her brow and shouted.
“Fuck! Ada the bomber bastard! What’s your name! Jung Soo Hyun! Yes that bastard! No, that bastard is a fucking asshole, so why did you name him Ada Bomber? Why does he take 7 women only with him?”
“The woman I’m with is… It seems that she is not there.”
Kim Yu-jung said in a voice that she crawled a little. Her plea was useless, but she wanted to defend Jung Soo-hyeon in Kim Yoo-jung’s way. Lee Jun-hyeok clicked his tongue and said.
“Nothing other than that kid. Hey. We made the mining site look like it’s no big deal, but we dug so fucking deep? At least 200m passed. But you climbed it up with your bare hands? Hey, Kim Yoo-jung. Can you do that?”
“It’s a bit difficult, but I think I can do it.”
Kim Yoo-jung nodded her head and replied. Because she was a regenerative person, she also had much better stamina than the others. If she was simply exerting herself, she could do it too. Lee Jun-hyeok pointed and said.
“Look. You, a D-class hunter, said that the bastard, now an apprentice hunter, had accomplished the ‘hard but doable job’? What is his ability Does he have the ability to strengthen his muscles?”
“No. As far as I know, I know it as a fighting ability.”
“Yeah fuck! What is not probable Probability! How did that kid come up? Deep underground. He must have come up because he ate fragments of the Almighty and became so fucking strong.”
“Isn’t it just that the desire to live has exploded something like potential? It also comes from news sources. Like an incident where a C-rank hunter defeated an A-rank monster that suddenly appeared. Or, unexpectedly, it could be halfway up. Besides, there was no such big abnormality in the physical examination.”
Kim Yoo-jung was doing her best to protect Jung Soo-hyun. However, Lee Jun-hyeok did not bend her doubts.
“No. No. When I saw it, that bastard ate it.”
“No way.”
Kim Yoo-jung shook her head and once again affirmed. Junhyeok Lee said.
“You seem to be getting along well with that bastard.”
“Ah yes. That… We’re not really close, so we’re just seniors and juniors…”
Lee Jun-hyeok cut off Kim Yoo-jung’s words.
“You try to tease him.”
“Yes?”
Kim Yoo-jung opened her eyes round and looked at Lee Jun-hyuk. And only then did he know why Lee Jun-hyeok had called him. Junhyeok Lee said.
“If he goes out with you, he’s not going to spill out his secrets. We’re not thugs, we can’t eat debris or not eat Hunter’s stomach. Uh? Is not it? Because there is only one thing. We have to get the evidence.”
“Oh no, that… Therefore…”
Kim Yoo-jung stuttered her words with her embarrassed face. Lee Jun-hyeok caught his breath and said.
“I want to see my older brother go to S rank. Yoo Jeong-ah. Help me. Uh? Are we going to kill the golden horse because it ate fragments? I’ll take care of everything.”
“So, that…”
But Kim Yoo-jung hesitated. She didn’t even know why she was doing this. Along with her bewildered mind, there were subtle emotions welling up in her heart. Lee Jun-hyeok stiffened her expression when she paused without answering.
“Hey, Kim Yoo-jung.”
“…Yes.”
“Fuck, the kid who wants to be a Hunter. I fed you, put you to bed, and made you a D-class, so do you pay me back this way? Uh? Ask for help My older brother, if you become S-class, you’ll be fine too. No? Uh? Then what, really, where do you cut your stomach and look around like gangsters? So what? Uh?”
“Oh no! I will do it.”
Kim Yoo-jung said reluctantly.
“I, I will.”
Lee Jun-hyeok nodded his head with a satisfied face.
“Yeah man, that’s how you should go.”
